A chance to explore the techniques of mosaic-making with broken china and ceramics whilst studying one of the world’s greatest artists. This course coincides with an exhibition of Van Gogh's work at Tate Britain, which not only focuses on how Britain inspired the artist but how there's a fascination with Van Gogh in Britain.

You will make a 305 mm (12”) square mosaic using the direct method in the style of Van Gogh’s work, looking at his unique techniques. A wide range of materials will be available for you to choose from, including patterned china…

Things to remember

Materials are provided. You may want to bring some of your own broken china and crockery to use in your mosaic. Think about a design idea, which can be based on a painting of Van Gogh or any subject-matter that you want to interpret in a Van Gogh style…
