About your host, Elena Gileva Ceramics
Elena is a practicing ceramic artist and has extensive experience working with clay. Starting last year she's taught courses at HND ceramics department and beginner courses at Morley College. As well as that, she has taught at the Victoria & Albert Museum and Camden Arts Centre. Elena has trained at the Royal College of Art /LDN, Shigaraki Sculpture Park /JPN and Parsons Paris school of Art & Design.
Lessons take place in her private artist studio and focus on your individual approach to the art of making (aided by the small class sizes). Elena's key areas of specialism are hand building as well as glazing and experimentation. Hand-building is an ancient pottery-making technique that involves creating forms without a pottery wheel, using the hands, fingers, and simple tools. Different sessions below will allow you to build up your skill base and confidence and create your own ceramic masterpieces!
All materials and firings included. Small scale classes of 4/5 students. Aprons and tools to use are included.
