Ceramics Taster Session

Martha’s classes are by far more than ceramic sessions. It’s an unmissable environment of creativity, friendship and an immersive sense of togetherness to make things. Every corner of my house has a piece or two ( or three!) that I’ve made over the years which I look at with deep fondness of the sessions . Fantastic and five star at every level .

Took a friend as a birthday surprise and had the best time! The teacher was great and had the freedom to try and make anything we wanted.

I’ve been going to regular classes for a few months now and I’ve learned so much and had so much fun! Martha is super experienced and chilled and creates a relaxed environment where you can get serious about clay or have a laugh… or both! Highly recommend joining Martha’s classes!

The taster session was excellent, we had a chance to make genuinely lovely pots which is amazing in 2 hours. Martha is a super teacher and really encouraged to use our creativity.

Wonderful way to spend an evening! Martha was so helpful in the lead up to attending the workshop. Her studio is welcoming and she made the workshop feel fun and relaxed. Really enjoyed losing myself in creating something and can't wait to see the finished items! Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to try ceramics.

A friendly studio where you can work with lots of guidance or only when you ask. Easy going with a good community of students.

Great studio set up and relaxed atmosphere. In only 2 hours i created a vase and 'large' mug. Highly recommended for those looking for an insight in to ceramics.

The class was great and I was pleasantly surprised that we had enough time to make two pieces - a pinch pot and a mug!

This was my first time ever in a pottery studio. The place was spacious, light and straight away you felt at ease not only with the surroundings but also with the teacher! Friendly, organised and giving very clear and supportive instructions she made it thoroughly enjoyable! I have no hesitation in recommending this course!

The 5 stars doesn’t scratch the surface for this studio . Absolutely excellent in every way. Martha creates an immersive and friendly environment that soon becomes like a friend’s house.

Really great introduction of handling clay. Our lovely teacher showed us two ways of making an item of our choice such as bowl/cup/candle holder and was really great for a total newbie such as myself. Lovely studio also :)

It was brilliant we loved it.

My boyfriend and I had a really fun class led by Martha as a way to do something not staring at a screen together. Neither of us have done any pottery before and it was a very well led and chilled class. We each made a pinch pot (where you mould the shape by hand) and a coil pot (where you build a pot up from a base and add layers of coils to form the wall). The 2 hours flew by and we also got to pain our work too. Can't wait to collect them in a few weeks! There were just three of us in the class so COVID precautions were easy to maintain. Everyone had masks on all the time and it was perfectly fine. We would definitely do another workshop/class with Martha again.

Martha was a very chill teacher and we had such a fun time making a couple of pots each. The time quite literally flew by! Would recommend highly.

Three of us went for a 2-hour taster class and had so much fun! I'd recommend this class to anyone who wants to get their hands dirty and play with clay. We'll be booking more sessions with Martha in the future :)

I booked a private lesson for myself, my partner, and his parents and we had a wonderful time. Martha was patient, instructive, and kind, and we managed to make quite a few items (cups, jars, pots...) that day, and it was really fun to think about what we would like to make and see the items come to life! We left the class feeling happy and relaxed, and excited to pick up our fired items in 2 weeks time. The finished items turned out so well and has brought all of us so much joy. Thank you Martha for such a lovely experience.

Really enjoyable relaxing session, was so pleased to be able to make two things to take home. Took place in such a lovely location too.

Friendly tutor and participants and freedom to make what your want. I have now been to 4 sessions since November and just booked for a four week course to learn more about techniques and glazing. With only spaces for 5 people you get a lot of help if you need it.

I really enjoyed the taster session last week, so I have already booked another session. Martha was an excellent teacher and the atmosphere of the class was friendly and relaxed. Highly recommend to anyone interested in making their own ceramics.

The Taster Session is a really good way to try out ceramics. It does make you want to come back for a full course! I highly recommend this class.

I attended a beginner's class last night and it was very enjoyable. It was a small group, we were shown basic techniques. People were friendly and the tutor was knowledgeable, relaxed and even made us a hot drink! I am definitely going to be booking more sessions for January and February.

This was a great taster session! I learnt a lot about making different types of pots and I understand the process a lot better. Martha was a great teacher and provided all the equipment needed. It's a fantastic class and I highly recommend it!

We had such a good time in our taster session. Martha was a great tutor, and lovely company, with excellent taste in music! We were all inspired by the lovely pots and sculptures in the studio, and found the whole experience relaxing and fun. Two awesome hours of ceramics!

It was a small space, but fit 5 comfortably. Really enjoyed my session and getting hands on with clay. I have used a wheel before but this was the first time I have used clay in this way. Definitely would recommend this class - and I will be attending again!

It was great! Martha was really helpful - with only two of us in the class it was such great value. We were able to work at our own pace and I feel I learned loads. I will definitely be going back!

Super evening with Martha and others - the time flew by. We made two pots, using two different techniques, as well as learning about glazing and finishing, and were able to decorate the pots ready for firing. Martha is lovely, very friendly and very supportive of absolute beginners as well as those with some experience. Highly recommended.

This taster session was the perfect course! It was the right amount of time and the right side. I felt I got a really good introduction to the techniques used, the types of clay, the different tools and what they can be used for as well as a taster into how to decorate the pots. It made me want to book onto a full course. Getting to make not one, but two pots was a bonus. Can't wait to pick them up!

Martha is a fantastic tutor. Always there to help and assist and her knowledge and experience with clay is so golden. She is also great fun! I really enjoyed my taster class and looking forward to working with her when I book my next sculpture class.

I came with my two sons who are 7 and 3. My oldest is very proud of his Cheetah and his Eagle and he'd taken it to school for 'show and tell' and he's got some lovely feedback from his classmates. I'm quite happy with my plant pot, so is the Aloe Vera which now resides. Martha was great with the kids, definitely would go again for a family session.
