Beginner Pottery class in West Hampstead

I really enjoyed learning various techniques and spending time learning something completely new. There were a couple of things that make me hesitant to recommend this workshop - the confirmation emails beforehand had stated that we'd be wearing masks indoors, but Freya encouraged us to take them off. I know I didn't have to take mine off, but obviously masks work by protecting others rather than protecting yourself so I would have had to convince everyone to put theirs back on. I felt pressure to take mine off so as I didn't want to go against the general flow. The session involved instructors being very close to us so this made me feel very vulnerable. Secondly, throughout the session someone was taking photos/videos of us without having checked whether this was ok with us. I would have consented but just found it a bit strange having not been asked. Apart from these two things it was a great experience, but the lack of communication/sensitivity surrounding masks and photos was a bit off.

A really great pottery class. Freya trained and guided us but we also had freedom to create our bowls as we liked. Freya is also super welcoming and friendly - loved the whole experience!

First time on the wheel was a lovely experience! Freya is a great teacher and she helps you understand the way clay works in a clear but creative manner! Totally recommend

The class was great! Freya has a relaxed, non-judgemental and calm approach is ideal when learning a new skill like throwing. She is patient and knows how to teach as well as knowing her stuff so she inspires confidence. The time flew by and I left happy and exhausted as well as wanting to come back for more! I highly recommend this course.

It was a lot of fun! Freya was great - attentive, engaging, made the class enjoyable and was extremely patient despite all my mistakes!

We had the best time, my husband, daughter and I enjoyed the beginners pottery class and went with no expectations but came out feeling like we had just had an amazing experience, one that we will never forget. Freya was engaging, warm, informative, gentle and yet encouraging in her teaching. She also gave you space to just play with the clay to get a feel for it yourself. We had been wanting to try throwing clay and using the wheel for the longest time. On a personal level, to find a black, family owned business on our doorstep was a dream come true. As a black family we felt so comfortable and like we were home strangely. My daughter seemed to get it straight away and Freya took her on to other techniques which was great and kept her engaged and focused. We will be back for the glazing session. I would actually do the same session again or start a course. Was definitely a session for the soul, there’s something about getting messy and being creative that left us all with that feel good feeling. We got more than a pottery class.

Having not done pottery since school, to use a wheel for the first time and produce a piece of pottery that looked good was truly amazing. I really enjoyed the experience. Playing with clay was fantastic and Freya was excellent at guiding and helping you whilst letting you do it yourself. I would definitely recommend doing the class.

A friendly and relaxed studio with a variety of other students at different levels doing their work. Freja is great teacher, takes time to show you what is needed and then lets you have a go and is on hand to help out. Definitely recommend!

I can't recommend this class enough! Fantastic, friendly atmosphere in a lovely studio. The basics were taught reasonably quickly to allow us the majority of the 2 hours to practice throwing - I ended up completing 4 different pieces with plenty of support and guidance from Freya. A++

Loved the class. Freya is accommodating and helpful. Both chris and herself are good fun and experts at pottery making. We had a blast. I thought the extra glazing fee was a bit much but I was happy to pay as I’m pregnant and unfortuantely won’t get back to glaze myself. I really enjoyed every bit of true class. It was good fun and quite therapeutic. Would do it again if it was on discount. But then hospitality was lovely and all the people in the class were lovely too xx

This is my second time taking this course as I loved it so much the first time! I brought my mum with me this time and we both throughly enjoyed ourselves! We only wished it had lasted longer!!

Freya is a great teacher, and we had a lovely time using the wheel to make different cylinders and bowls. Would highly recommend this class to anyone looking to learn some pottery basics in a relaxed and fun environment.

What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Freya was a patient, interesting and fun teacher and this taster class has inspired me to do a full course with Freya. Loved it

I have wanted to try pottery throwing for a long time! This class seemed perfect as it focused solely on wheel work. It did not disappoint! Freya is a great teacher and explains everything so well! We all managed to make around 6 pots/bowls each in the time we had. The time flew by! I could have spent all day there it was so much fun! I am certainly heading back to do more there and I would highly recommend the class to anyone who wants to try this amazing craft out.

Freya's studio has a great atmosphere and it's evident how talented the potters are. It was clear from the start how knowledgeable Freya is and how experienced she is at teaching. We had plenty of materials, a lot of time on the wheel and Freya was always able to help if things went wrong!

Freya was a brilliant teacher. She provided incredibly clear instruction in a very relaxed setting. And made something potentially incredibly difficult feel really achievable to a complete novice. All the staff were super helpful. Thank you Freya x
