What happens in this class?

During the 12 week course, you will be taught both how to hand build and throw on the potter's wheel. More experienced students will be helped to improve their existing skills.

You can expect to make between 6-12 pieces during the course.

Once a piece has been fired, the clay cannot be recycled and therefore there is a small charge of £4 per kg of clay to be fired. We recycle all unfired waste clay at the studio and many of Stine's SkandiHus pieces are made from this recycled clay. Your teacher will point you to the…

I am currently attending a 12 week pottery course and I am loving it. Our teacher is great and we are learning different techniques and given plenty of time to work on our own projects. The studio has everything we need to learn pottery and the environment is really friendly and relaxed.

We learnt hand building, slab building and throwing. Teaching is weighted towards the beginning of the sessions and as the weeks go on you have more and more time to make whatever you'd like with the teacher there to answer questions. The class was always a lovely part of my week that I'd look forward to.

Where to begin! This studio is incredible! Such a wonderful and warm vibe run by the loveliest people! Everyone is so nice and they’re all really great teachers. The group setting is a warm and friendly community and making with clay is truly healing. No matter the course or studio (they have 2 and they’re both gorgeous) you can’t go wrong and you’ll wish you started long ago! My favourite is Stine who owns the studio (and is an incredible artist! Her work is inspirational) but I know the whole team is awesome.

The SkandiHus brand is inspired by a love for Scandinavian design in which beauty is radiated through light colours, the ample use of natural materials, minimalism and functionality. Like many Scandinavian designers before her, Stine believes that quality design should be affordable, stylish and relevant to the modern human being by providing minimal distraction and maximum functionality and beauty.

Stine both throws and hand-builds…
