Catford Music School's advanced piano classes are aimed at those who already play the instrument to a high standard (and are studying for grades 6-8.) Held on weekdays, these popular sessions are for children and young people aged up to 17 years. Groups consist of no more than four students, with participants placed together based on age, ability, confidence and experience. / Catford Music School has sourced many young, professionally qualified musicians to teach their range of music classes. Teaching methods provide a modern alternative to traditional approaches, although a structured progression through musical grades 1-8 in a chosen instrument is also offered. / The advanced piano group provides a friendly, informal space for students to hone their already impressive skills while share learning and experience. If your child is working towards grades 6-8 or preparing for an important audition or performance, this group is highly recommended.

About your host, Catford Music School
Alex Cockle has been involved in music since the age of four when his father taught him the harmonica. A lively and enthusiastic emphasis is always put upon the arts in general. Alex studied classical piano for twelve years and completed his grade eight piano exam.
He studied music at university and even enjoyed a scholarship year in America before graduating with a first class honors degree in music. He has since lived in London and worked as a professional musician throughout Europe, performing at many exclusive venues including The Royal Festival Hall. Alex has dedicated the last eight years of his career to music teaching, namely with the Catford Music School. The inspiration to plan Catford Music School occurred exactly one year after completing a transatlantic sailing trip from Falmouth UK to Saint Lucia in the Caribbean Sea. A family voyage covering 4500 miles during 2006. Manny, Sue, Victor and Alex were all crew onboard 'Thisbe', their faithful boat, a Nicholson 32 from Mylor in Cornwall. Many new paths in their lives have been forged as a result of such an inspiring journey. Alex felt it was necessary to bring together both of his lifelong pursuits and start another music school in Catford where he has many friends and relatives. Many existing students have shared that inspiration in learning and encouraged him to start his own school.
