5 hour course

Daytime

You will look at and discuss a range of print examples to understand what etchings look like, and to identify the difference between hard and soft ground mark making. You will learn how to prepare, draw, etch and print an etching plate with both hard and soft ground resists.

You will be encouraged to take a proof at every stage to record the process of making the plate and how layers of different techniques can alter the whole image. You will print in black and white and add colour through relief roll or chine collee. At the end of the course you will have prints taken at each stage of the process and a basic understanding of etching.

Our classes are limited in size- you will get good support and lots of help throughout the course.
