6 hour workshop
This class will teach you the dynamic and graphic image making technique of woodcut or linocut. You will work with tools for cutting, printing and be introduced to printing with multiple blocks.
In this class
Cutting a block of lino is a vigorous activity so correct handling of the tools is the first thing you will learn. There are several types of lino so you your tutor will teach you to understand their surfaces and how to choose which one to use. This is as important as knowing when to print a linocut by hand or with a relief press.
This class is perfect for anyone who loves graphic shapes, dynamic colour and enjoys seeing the negative/positive and inside/outside of shapes. You will be able to cut and print lino at home or in a printmaking studio after taking this class.
If your enjoy this class and fancy taking your linocuts to the next level then be sure to book yourself onto our more advanced class, Multi-block Linocuts.
Now you can
- Safely use lino tools so that you can create your own linocuts at home
- Understand the different lino surfaces and which ones to choose
- Start sending your prints to friends - lino is a great way to create greeting cards
You will be sent home with the images you print and the blocks of lino you have cut so that you can continue the craft at home.
