What happens in this class?

This one day course is for the new or aspiring letterpress printer who is looking learn the using the popular Adana platen press.

You will receive instruction and practical experience in hand typesetting and printing on an Adana, as well as practical points regarding maintenance of the press, workshop management and what to look out for when purchasing equipment.

The Adana is a small cast iron table-top press and many printers of the last century started off their careers using an Adana press. The ‘Adana Agency’ was founded in 1922 and was distinguished by catering for the hobby letterpress…

Great class led by two experts in the field. Thoroughly enjoyed the course but felt like they could fit more into the full day course. Nice to learn an old technique and find out lots of interesting facts which all tie back in with current day design. Would recommend!

The facilities at the St Brides Foundation are amazing. So much history and knowledge in the printing workshop, it was a pleasure to experience the surroundings and have a practical go using the amazing collection.
