What happens in this class?

Students will learn how to use the beautiful & versatile medium of oil paint.

This material is particularly suited to depicting both still life and the natural environment & its subjects. However, figurative compositions may also be illustrated.

The location of the Art Centre is ideally situated for painting both the natural and the urban landscape looking out on the river and Kew Gardens.

Each session will begin with a demonstration of the fundamental technique to be practised and followed by a more sustained study of a particular subject.

Things to remember

Initially, customers will not be required to bring materials but as the course proceeds they are encouraged to buy their own brushes, canvas, medium and paints, in order to practise and consolidate what has been taught in each specific session.

Even though it is the other side of London for us it was worth the effort to go. Sue is a great teacher and was very patient with us. Great for beginners like me and intermediates as well. Good location with great views of the riverbank. Highly recommend

Sue is an incredibly talented artist who is also a very firm, patient and talented Teacher I am so grateful for her encouragement and inspiration ...she has awoken soemthing that had laid dormant for decades Thanks Sue

This oil painting course has so far (4/6 classes through) been fun, , very well taught , of an exceptionally high standard in terms of explanations and expectation. That said, well as Sue being really kind, friendly and supportive of us all!I cannot recommend highly enough. My concentration and perception has improved significantly and I am really enjoying remembering my school day lessons and thinking how much I wish Sue had been my Teacher then, though my attention may not have been as good as it is now! Thank you Sue Cooper for all your help and encouragement ! I am very grateful indeed!
