What you will do

2 hour class

This taster session aims to give you a systematic approach to drawing in a relaxed, supportive and inspiring environment. You will be guided through learning new techniques and approaches, giving you the confidence to draw and be creative with your own practice. You will work from first-hand observation.

Please note: This taster session and course is the second part of our course 'Introduction to drawing 1'. We highly recommend that you attend that course first.

Wk 1: Jun 10 (10.30 - 12.30)

Title: Introduction to drawing the Human head Main exercise: A sustained drawing of the head and shoulders using John Singer Sargent as a starting point.

About your host, London Art School

Born in London, Sue studied Art at Harrow School of Art and DeMontfort University and was awarded a Royal Society Of Arts Travel Scholarship & Associate membership. She did props and set design and painting for major London theatres followed by textile design for the Scandinavian market at the legendary Bernat Klein Studios.

After six years as Head of Furnishing Textile Design at Liberty of London, Sue concentrated on her own art establishing the Hope Collection with her husband prior to entering into teaching art to adults and children. She was Head of Art and Head of History of Art at St. James Senior Girls School and is an OCR A-Level Moderator of Art and AQA - A Level History of Art Examiner.

Notes

All abilities are welcome and all materials will be provided. There will be a tea and biscuit break halfway through the lesson provided by us. There is a lovely bar and restaurant on the bottom floor and a reasonably priced car park!
