What happens in this class?

During the summer this drawing course will give you the opportunity to discover the joys of drawing outside. Discover and record the landmarks of your city as well as sketching those wonderful mundane moments that go unnoticed.

You will learn the rules of perspective and how to measure proportion. You will combine this with more intuitive ways of drawing using as much memory as observation to capture the mix of the permanent and the fleeting that is the urban landscape.

Locations will include St. Pancras Churchyard and Coal Drop Yard, Regents Park, the Victoria and Albert Museum, the South Bank…

Things to remember

Participants need to bring an A4 or A3 sketchbook (or both). A set of pencils of various grades - e.g. HB, 2B, 4B and 6B A pencil sharpener Wear suitable footwear and clothing for the weather.

I’m more or less a complete beginner, I managed three paintings in the session & I was so pleased with them, with joes guidance I was able to really stretch myself & get an idea of how to further my practise The studio in Camden’s WMC is great, spacious, well lit and there was plenty of materials. A totally inspiring day, cannot recommend highly enough!!
