**What To Expect?**
Each week we'll be experimenting with different techniques, and different things to draw. Some weeks will feel hard, some will feel easy but you’ll be amazed at what you can do. 


From still life to life drawing, we like to play around, try different things and push your limits occasionally.


Expect people to be chatting, and supporting each other because our community is at the heart of the class and we welcome anyone who wants to join! Or if you want to sit and draw quietly, you can switch your camera off and we’ll respect your mindful time as you listen to the chitter chatter of our students.

**What If I’m Shit At Drawing?**
Then you should have signed up 10 minutes ago! Trust me, everyone can draw, you’ve just never been shown how. These classes are beginner friendly and super inclusive so you’ll feel right at home (even if you’re s******g a brick slightly about being the ‘newbie’).

Join us for a full day, beginner friendly, drawing course. Located in the heart of Waterloo at the charming Travel Cafe, this course offers you the perfect opportunity to unleash your creativity and develop foundational drawing skills. We’ll start by looking at shading techniques to make your drawing easier and quicker, and in the afternoon we’ll apply what we’ve learnt to some still life images that you’ll take away and be proud of. You’re confidence and skills will improve in just short amount of time, allowing you to go home and draw anything you want with ease.

It's ok! Sometimes life get's in the way and we need to change our plans. If you can give us 2 weeks notice, we'll be able to refund 100% of your fee. If you cancel less than 2 weeks we can issue 50% back, and less than 1 week is non-refundable.

This drawing kit comes with a full video to help you use your tools and understand what they and you can achieve.

Using a ruler to create a grid, we will show you step-by-step how to draw your own masterpiece, in the hope to inspire you to fill your sketchbook with more amazing atworks.

This drawing kit contains everything you need to start or continue your drawing practise.

Included:

- Professional hardcover, casebound sketchbook - A5 - 46 pages - acidfree - 170gsm (which means it's good quality paper and can take a bit of water without major buckling.)

- Pencils - HB, 2B, 2H, 6B (Everything you need to create dynamic drawings)

- Professional putty rubber (so you can fix your drawings in small precise areas, and it's even got its own little case to keep it safe.)

Sketchbook

The sketchbook is really high quality and made from recycled material, but if you ask me,  you can't even notice! The paper is slightly thicker than printing paper which means you can draw on it whilst still keeping a smooth texture. You can also progress onto water-based paints if you so wished. This is perfect if you want to take your sketchbook on your travels with you and create some landscapes. With its hardback case, and thick structure, you'll be sure that your drawings will be protected from any wear and tear.

Pencils 

These have been hand-selected to ensure that you have all the pencils you need to make your drawings dynamic and detailed. We decided to cut out the middle man in the packs of a million pencils because quite frankly, you can do pretty much anything with these four. In our video demonstrations you will find that we only use 2H, 2B, 6/8B so the HB is a little bonus for you.

Putty Rubber

This putty rubber is not your average eraser. This comes in its own case to keep it clean and safe as it is much softer than any other rubber. Use this like playdough to twist into little points to remove the smallest areas of pencil so you don't remove the whole thing! We LOVE these.

In side the book you have exercises and illustrations to help you build confidence in your shading and get you ready for shading in the big boys and make them look 3D. It's gonna be so satisfying.
 
As an artist, the most fun part of any drawing is the shading. The outlines can be quite stressful so I've done them all for you. I've even colour coded the shades so you just need to match them with your pencils (you can add them to the book if you don't have any at home).
 
Finally...
This is the first edition and hopefully one of many. It was self published so you may find the odd error but hopefully you can see past the any grammatical mistakes.

The artists will inspire you to explore your creativity in a relaxed learning environment. These classes cover the basics as well as more advanced techniques – dive in at whatever level suits you!

For drop-ins you create a mosaic tile to take home. The studio shelves are full of treasure for you to use. One of the best stocked mosaic studios in London. The range is unbelievable.
You will be introduced to the fundamentals of mosaic which can allow you to progress onto further projects, e.g a mosaic art piece, plant pot, mirror frame, table top - we have all the bases for you to choose.

Our studio is set in a gated community garden which makes it a quiet and relaxing environment.

Neon Naked Life Drawing Class

You can make up to 3 pieces using these skills, which will then be bisque-fired, dipped in our beautiful stoneware glazes, and fired again. Most of our glaze choices are dinnerware safe. The results are stunning! You receive your posted creations within 4-6 weeks, imagine the magical moment when you open your box to reveal the results!

The vessels/pots can be for functional ware or try small sculptural work. You are welcome to come with your own ideas during the mindful 2.5 hours of making with the full support of an experienced ceramic tutor to help you realise your creative design ideas. No experience is necessary as the session is beginner-friendly as well for the more advanced participants.

The popular venue is our stunning Art4Space community arts centre, which is an inclusive, supportive, respectful, welcoming, safe space for everyone. Proceeds go towards our community art projects providing vulnerable individuals with mental health support in deprived areas in Lambeth, London.

For private bookings, we can also arrange to come to your venue. Please note it is £54 per person for 2-2.5-hour workshop, plus travel expenses. We are flexible with timing; day, evening or weekend, according to availability.

Hand building pottery - Pinch, coil and slab building

This workshop is about learning the use of traditional Japanese hand tools, the process of inking wood blocks, printing on different types of handmade paper and developing a new understanding of various techniques in woodcut art, all of which will enable you to make fine art prints to take away at the end of the session.

For the workshop everyone will be provided with:
5x traditional Japanese hand tools
1x Shina ply woodblock - blocks can be cut and printed on both sides
3x types of printmaking papers (including Japanese Hosho paper)
Water-based inks, pencils etc.
Pre-cut shapes and pattern blocks to use in compositions.
Tubes for taking prints away at the end of the session.

Introduction - Cups of tea, coffee and soft drinks followed by an intro from Alex on printmaking and his career.

Throughout the session, Alex will give an overview of this ancient art form (woodcut is the oldest print process) and has a culturally rich history in China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil and most recently in Germany with the Expressionists. Contemporary artists such as  Grayson Perry, Tom Hammick, Christiane Baumgartner, Eileen Cooper and Rebecca Salter continue to inspire and push the medium into new and exciting places.

Stage 1 - Alex will cover the use of hand tools to design, draw and cut woodblocks and explore the process of hand printing using traditional Japanese barens (circular discs wrapped in bamboo) and rollers on three types of paper.

Stage 2 - Delve a little deeper, with examples on how to use multiple blocks, reduction-cutting techniques and the importance of block registration to create more complex multi colour prints.

Stage 3 - This a perfect opportunity to make multiply prints through editions, ending the final part of the session by experimenting with your favourite design or playing with various colours.

Stage 4 - Everyone will be provided with cardboard tubes for their prints to travel safely home.

Lavender Haze Acrylic Painting Kit- with video tutorial

This fun pottery workshop, you'll have the opportunity to play and experiment as much as you like, all whilst making a beautiful ceramic keepsake. Perfect for anyone looking to try something new or has already tried it and wants to do more!

During this pottery workshop, you'll gain practical skills and understand the basics of working with clay on the pottery wheel.  Take the opportunity to slow down and sink your hands into the present moment.

At the end of the class, you'll have a beautifully finished piece to call your own. If you love your clay creation and want to keep it forever then there is also the option to have the pottery glazed and fired (£5 per piece).

All material provided.
Collection 3/4 weeks after the session and will be kept for one months after the collection time .
In light of the current COVID-19 please be aware of the health and safety guild-lines. The studio is fully sanitised and cleaned before and after the workshop. Everyone is provided with antibacterial wipes, sanitisers, gloves, and disposable aprons. Please feel free to bring anything else with you to keep you safe and protected.

Join us in our colourful London studios and learn how you can design and create your own lino printed tote bag or T-towel. You'll be shown how to choose a design, how to carve into lino and how to create the stamp, which you'll then use to print your design onto a tote bag or T-towel, whichever you prefer. You'll be able to choose from different colours paints. No experience required and it's BYOB. Tea and coffee also included.

If you're super quick, you can buy extra tote bags or t-towels. We'll also have some pom poms, buttons and sequins, should you wish to stitch them on too. Handcrafted and unique - brilliant! You'll take home your lino stamp too, of course.

Introduction to wheel throwing

This two-hour session is perfect for beginners who want to try wheel throwing for the first time, or to work on mastering the fundamentals.

Get guidance on the basics of centering clay on the wheel, pulling up the walls, and shaping. As a beginner, you will start by learning the process to make a basic cylinder shape, before moving onto more complex shapes and techniques if you come to multiple classes.

At the end of the class, you will have the option to have your piece(s) fired and glazed using one of our studio glazes, if you have made anything which you wish to keep. One of our studio technicians will do this for you and we will contact you when your pots are ready for collection!

If you are comfortable throwing around 3lbs of clay, or if you have a specific project that you want to work on, please contact us before booking this class so that we can ensure it can be tailored to your needs.

The session is two hours and has a maximum of two students.

Pottery Wheel Throwing! Beginners Ceramics Session

Students get a unique opportunity to visit Colin McCallum's railway arch studio in the super creative neighbourhood of Hackney, located in a street with a long history of artists. Colin studied Fine Art at Camberwell School of Art and has remained in East London for many years as well as living in Barcelona for 14 years.

Colin is an award winning artist who has shown his art all over the world and has many international collectors.

In this fun and informative 2 hour class, students will be introduced to Colin's art and he will discuss his techniques in detail. You will get a real insight into the life of a professional artist too!

The class is suitable for beginners and those who have tried painting before and want more guidance from a professional. Colin will provide a large array of acrylic and spray paints and begin with showing some examples of his methods on paper. Each student gets the chance to work on paper and finally will be given their own canvas to create the final work which they can take home (if the canvas is not dry they can return to collect at a later date).

This workshop is very hands on and is suitable for people who have attended our beginners workshops  or have had previous experience working with clay and have a knowledge of the basics.

At the workshop we have:
3 electric kilns of varying sizes

6 electric pottery wheels

A slab roller and a clay extruder

A large selection of plaster moulds and modelling tools

A good selection of slips, underglazes and glazes

We use a range of clays – white and speckled buff throwing clays, White Earthstone hand building clay, buff clay, crank and terracotta.

A comprehensive selection of reference books with access to a printer and Wifi.

When you join the workshops you will have a space allocated on the shelf. We have a limited number of plastic storage boxes but please consider supplying your own to store your work in within your storage area.

Bundles – these will expire as follows:

Zines are DIY books that employ the art of paper folding. Incorporating expressive text and visual art, zines are a powerful way of sharing your thoughts, memories and/or ideas. Imagine the anticipation of holding a handmade book in your hands; the feeling of delight and sense of discovery as you turn the pages and to see artistry that jumps out of each page. Now imagine that book was created by you; a unique, captivating handmade creation based on your personal memories and stories.

In this home kit you will receive a set of beautiful handmade papers, as well as card, labels, envelopes, collage materials (for example book pages, magazine pages, music manuscript, pressed flowers, stickers etc) a folding tool, binding ring and other treats. Everything you need to get zine-making in the comfort of your own home. You will also receive a limited edition, handmade art zine which will feature your zine-making instructions.

The instructions will support you to experiment with two different types of folding techniques to create your zine. Themed wellbeing prompts will then guide you through writing and drawing activities to create your own zine about a positive memory or a meaningful time or place. You will be filling the pages with adventurous writing and mark-making and allowing your imagination to take the lead.

This kit is best suited for adults, although children can be taken through the activities with assistance from an adult. No experience necessary!

Taking time to focus on ourselves and support our own wellbeing is more important than ever. We acknowledge there are many ways you can focus on your own wellbeing, including exercise, mindfulness and meditation as well as artistic endeavours. We believe creating artistic well-zines offer one potential way to support the bigger picture of wellbeing and mental health and alongside other approaches.
