AlexI had the great pleasure of having Sophie as my tutor. A unique thing about the class is that Sophie focuses on areas like breathing and frame of mind that help you produce art. She makes the distinction between expressionate artistic drawing and more technical drawing, which I found very useful. I was very satisfied with the drawings at the end of the session and feel I had improved a lot of areas that I hadn't previously considered! She also is very accommodating and tailors lesson to your experience.
TimThe session was well organised with plenty of resources and a lovely light airy studio, with a wonderful model. Sophie was attentive, gently pushing me out of my comfort zone and encouraging me to produce works in unfamiliar media that I was really pleased with. As an educator myself, I was happy to have my experience broadened. I hope to work with both Sophie and Sophia in the future.
Rob OldfieldThis was an excellent opportunity to loosen up my technique. We had a number of different poses - some short some long. Sophie was very friendly and encouraging. The model was also very friendly. This created a supportive atmosphere which allowed you to move out of your comfort zone and experiment with technique. The location was also good as it gave very good lighting creating good contrast on the model.
Phillip PriceHad a lot of fun and made several pictures which we got to take home. Very proud! Perhaps a glass of fizz would have helped the mini exhibition at the end. Will keep painting : )
FrankieSophie is an excellent teacher and incredibly knowledgeable. She provides support and guidance but also enables her students to pursue their own ideas and follow their own instincts. My class was a gift from a friend and I would fully recommend it to anyone - and may even gift it to someone else in the future!
LauraI haven't had an art lesson in 17 years and I'm so glad I decided to book the Introduction to Oil Painting. In the past I've mainly focused on drawing, so it was great to try something new. Sophie is very warm and welcoming and puts you at ease straight away. All you inhibitions go out the door, because encourages you to be expressive and abstract. Sophie shared some great professional tips for oil painting, from the types of brushes to use, priming your canvas, building up images and making your picture feel cohesive. I would really recommend booking with Sophie to get your creative juices flowing.
PamelaSophie is a very talented artist and a great teacher. I gave her class as a gift to my boyfriend and it was a really fun day out for both of us- the studios are in a great spot with a climbing wall next door and the cable car to take you across the river. Sophie's class was relaxed and we had a laugh and also created some amazing art work that we will treasure forever thank you Sophie !! This was such a good surprise gift I would recommend to anyone

As a beginner I was very nervous but Sophie is an attentive, warm teacher who gave me the confidence to explore and express myself through art. She is also very knowledgeable on different art forms. I'm already looking forward to my next lesson.
