The Turpentine is a beautiful creative hub based in the heart of Brixton. It brings handmade, quality crafts to the high street and sells everything from design-led art prints to jewellery and homeware and to top it all off it runs some of the best workshops around!

The Turpentine is the brainchild of Amber, Alice and Jude and it started as a series of pop-up markets way back in 2011. After a lot of hard work they finally opened their first store in May 2014.

They not only love art and design but really understand what it’s like to start out as a small business, that’s why they have such a keen interest in supporting young designers and brands and they are currently working with over 80 emerging designers, makers and artists.

Great class. Small group so everyone got a good chance to have some one on one!! The hardest part was deciding what to make!!

The exercises were interesting and fun regardless of skill level (I was awful) and all worked together to help you appreciate the light and shadow values. The opening game of plasticine pictionary was a great warm up too!

Was a lovely night with some friends. The space is great and the instructor was helpful and friendly. This is great for someone with no artistic ability as there was no pressure to be perfect. Overall great class and would recommend it.

It was great fun! We got to try 3 different drawing styles, with occasional tips and encouragement from the teacher. My only complain is that the 1.5 hours passed too fast :D

I had such a good time. The ice-breaker game was really fun and helped create a great atmosphere. I'm not a good drawer but really wanted to try something creative and thoroughly enjoyed the class. The time flew past and couldn't believe it was over! Thoroughly recommend to anyone.

We had a great time. We did arrive half an hour late and Jude was very accommodating. Loving my ring. XX

It was very fun and I really enjoyed it. But could be with being slightly longer maybecas the end was quite rushed.

The teachers were knowledgeable, patient and friendly. The small group meant we had the benefit of a great deal of guidance and advice. I'll be back!

This was a very enjoyable workshop where everyone left with a Christmas wreath that could be displayed on any door, The instruction was clear and there was plenty of materials available for each person to decorate their wreath. A friendly and welcoming host. Loacation was easy to reach only a few minutes from a tube.
