Jonny was an excellent teacher. We all cast, poured and finished our own bronze axe heads during the workshop. There was plenty of time for questions and note taking and I encourage anyone who is thinking of investing in their own kit to do this course with Jonny first. It's excellent value for money, extremely informative, and will give you a real insight into important aspects of small workshop foundry such as safety, setup costs and the experience of being around hot, molten bronze.
Was a fun session. I am a complete beginner - and this was my first ever music class outside of school. Jonathan was very knowledgable. He’s able to explain the mechanics and answer any questions I had. I’ve continued to use the technique and have seen noticeable changes. Would definitely recommend if you are remotely interested or want to learn a new skill.
Actively illuminating
As a complete novice to throat and overtone singing and for someone who is very shy about using their voice in this way, I was extremely nervous. Jonathan made me feel completely comfortable and at ease. It's a great way to start to understand how to go forward to learn this technique...
I've only had one lesson and I didn’t know much about Throat singing / Overtone singing. It was very complete and very well structured. To record the lesson was not only permitted but suggested. Different exercises for different type of sounds / type of singing were given. Precaution for the safety and care of the vocal cords were present at all time. Highly recommended.
A fabulous day. Very engaging and informative with great practical demonstrations and tuition. Gives a great insight and better understanding into the skills required and a greater appreciation of this ancient craft.Very enjoyable. I would highly recommend
Very complete course, giving us an introduction to the history and theory around flint knapping followed by time to practice the different techniques we learned about. We came back home with an assortment of flint tools in various stages of finishing, and I'm looking forward to doing some more work on them :)
Definitely recommended if you are new to flint knapping and want to gain some introductory insight and skills!
Jonathan is an amazing teacher and made me feel at home and at ease straight away, highly recommendable
We had an excellent day casting. Jonny gave clear instructions throughout the day and then let us get on with creating our own personalised axe head.
He is also extremely knowledgeable with regards the history of casting through the ages
Myself and two friends drove up from SE Hampshire and attended Jonny's Throat Singing 3-hour class yesterday, and we all left with smiles on our faces and so many positive things to say about the session. Jonny is a talented and natural teacher with a really accommodating, knowledgeable, and friendly approach to his teaching. Myself and my two friends have been practicing a bit of Tuvan/Mongolian throat singing for a couple of months or so with little regular practice, and so Jonny was able to walk us through the very basics (with lots of information and tips), and introduce us to some more advanced techniques. He taught a range of techniques to us and gave us some weird and cool exercises to try which have been really helpful. He made us all feel very welcome, and for three shy people we felt like we could all be ourselves and really give it our best shot. Jonny also made us some lovely herbal tea and sat with us for a while after to talk about the session and where we want to take our skills. Very happy students, thanks Jonny!
Jonathan has been really engaging bringing us through the basic at first and allowing us to explore gradually our inner sounds. Very good communication and clear explanations with plenty
of demonstrations. He really made us able to follow even without much musical experience. The workshop left us with a good understanding of throath singing and overtones as well as practical working tools and exercises to keep exploring this incredible singing
technique. Thanks for teaching us Jonathan! Francesco and Erica
After a week I know how to produce Overtones (lot of practice while driving) but I am still learning how to produce a scale of sounds. Erica is ahead of me. Any video to help identifying
the tongue position to create a scale of overtones?
What a great day my son and I had casting bronze axe heads. Johnathon was very friendly and knowledgeable. I would highly recommend and I will be sharing my position experience with family and friends.
Thank you so much for a very enjoyable learning experience.
