Sophie is a self-taught botanical artist, who over the last 12 years has focussed on her large scale oil paintings, highlighting the beauty and intricacy of nature.   Recently awarded a Fellowship of the Society of Botanical Artists, her work has sold worldwide, through galleries, fairs and private commissions.  Portraiture has become another strong element of her work with the self-portrait being the foundation.  Through a series of self portraits she has uncovered an honesty and openness in her style.  Having made it onto the reserved list for Sky Portrait Artist of the Year, she has been motivated to pursue this further. 

Teaching art has played an important role in her life, helping others to tap into their creative side and tease out a talent that is in all of us but for whatever reason has been stifled or taken a back seat.  Her style of teaching is supportive and nurturing and by sharing her love of art with others she hopes it will give them confidence to  pursue a creative path.
