In this class you'll choose either a glass dish or a vase to transform  into something really special with a little - or a lot! - of bling.
You will learn to create a design by applying metal leaf onto the back of the dish or the inside of the vase - choose from imitation gold, silver or copper, or a combination two or more finishes.
During this 3-hour workshop, Gabriela will teach you the tricky art of applying metal leaf to glass and guide you through the design process. You will be able to use the glass dish for food and the vase for flowers as we seal each item with a waterproof varnish.

Gilding workshop: upcycle a glass plate or a vase with metal leaf

In this hands-on one day workshop, experienced artist and gilder Estitxu Garcia from Filigrana Design , will teach you how to apply a variety of metal leafs on to glass using the traditional technique of Verre Eglomise.

You'll begin by learning the skills of gilding on glass using specialist tools and materials (all provided). Having mastered the basic techniques, you'll try your hand at distressing the gold and silver leaf to create a variety of finishes. You'll then move on to learning how to create designs, patterns and drawings on to the gilded glass, transforming it in to your own beautiful piece of artwork which you get to take home.

Classes are small and intimate with a maximum of 3 people per workshop or you can choose to have a one-to-one private class. Dates are flexible so if you would like a group class but you can't see a date that works for you, please get in touch and we can try to accommodate.

Gilding on Glass Workshop in Woolwich - Verre Eglomise

An introduction to gilding for upcycling and craft. Learn the art of gilding in this half day course and choose from a range of metal leaf colours to upcycle a decorative item of your choice to take home (vase, candle stick, picture frame etc.) The course is suitable for beginners and all materials – including pieces to gild – are included. Please wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting messy!
