What you will do

Single session

At Tricia’s House you will start by watching Tricia make a batch of macarons before making and filling a batch of your own.

Tricia will be on hand to guide you throughout.

  • The class will last 3.5 hours.
  • All equipment and ingredients will be provided
  • Tricia can accommodate up to 4 people working individually, and up to 6 people working in pairs. If your group is bigger, do let Tricia know to see if she can work something out.

Macarons need time to dry before they go in the oven. This is an excellent opportunity to have a home-made cream tea, which you can relax and enjoy in the garden (weather permitting) or living room. This is included in the price of the course.

If you’d like a glass of prosecco with the cream tea, feel free to bring your own. Just let Tricia know in advance so she has glasses ready. Keep your wits about you though, as you still have to cook and fill your macarons!

Whether you work singly or in pairs, there will be plenty of finished macarons for everyone to take home, and boxes will be provided. You will also be given a recipe sheet to take home.

For those with allergies, the macarons contain almonds and eggs. The ganache filling contains cream. The cream tea contains gluten and dairy. Also two cats live in Tricia’s House.

Please let Tricia know in advance if you are gluten-intolerant.

Did you know?

A macaron is not a macaroon! The chief ingredient of macaroons is desiccated coconut and the end result is a bumpy cookie rather than a dainty ganache-filled sandwich in a variety of colours.

Memorable experience A HUGE HUGE thank you to Tricia for a fabulous afternoon learning how to make macarons. Everything was so well organised the presentation, all the ingredients, your instructions, knowledge and patience resulted in a very enjoyable time. I delivered some of my macaroons that evening to a neighbour. A few hours later a card popped through my letterbox with the following message.... “That course certainly paid off” I would certainly recommend Tricia’s House

I attended the Macaron Making class with Tricia where we learned about the ingredients, process and method for making macarons. Tricia gave a clear demonstration and explanation of the processes involved and she was very attentive, friendly and helpful all the time. The venue was clean and welcoming and we were given all the necessary equipment to use. I worked with a friend which I think was more fun than individually, but all of us had a good time. Whilst our macarons were cooking we were given a delicious cream tea with home made scones and jam. The results of our efforts were fantastic and we were all satisfied and happy customers!

Tricia makes you feel extremely welcome in her home. A fun afternoon that fully equips you to make your own macarons. Very informative and hands on. The ingredients were supplied and the recipe clearly demonstrated as we progressed. I was made to feel at ease and the group I was with had a real camaraderie. There was a lot of laughing as well as concentration in our macaron making. A treat that I would recommend anyone to try. The afternoon tea was delicious and an added bonus.

What a wonderful afternoon! Two friends and I had a great time learning to make macarons from star baker Tricia. She gave us an easy to follow walkthrough of all the steps to make macarons, then let us loose on our own baking stations. The attention to detail here is really fabulous - you have your own whisk, bowl ingredients and freedom to pick any colour of the rainbow for your macarons. This really is a class for people of all abilities, with Tricia always on hand to course correct, or help out if something has gone wrong and get your macaron making back on track. The cream tea was also a delight - fresh scones, with loads of jam and cream to smother them in while macarons are making. Would totally recommend this class for anyone looking to make macarons and while away an afternoon enjoying baking!

Macaron Making for Beginners by Tricia's House - food in London

About your host, Tricia's House

Tricia has been making macarons for many years for family, friends and the occasional Market Open Day where they've invariably sold out. She loves presenting them as gifts, and using them to decorate cakes and desserts. Tricia will love welcoming you into her home, where she will demonstrate how to make a batch of macarons with the right texture and shape before letting you have a go yourself. She will be on hand to guide you as needed. Macarons are tricky to get exactly right and do need a bit of practice to make perfect. But they are such fun to make, you take home what you've created and you need no previous experience to do Tricia's class.
