Workshops are hosted by Type Tasting founder Sarah Hyndman who is on a mission to make typography fun and exciting for everybody. She is the author of ‘Why Fonts Matter’ and ‘How to Draw Type and Influence People’.

Sarah ran a graphic design company for a decade, and now focuses on her passion for letterforms and typefaces. She was a recent guest on BBC Radio 4’s Word of Mouth, appears on Sunday Brunch, has given a TEDx talk and publishes collaborative research with Professor Charles Spence from the University of Oxford.

She taught Experimental Typography at the University of the Arts London for six years. She has run workshops at the Victoria and Albert Museum, Somerset House, Wellcome and the London Design Festival. Sarah has also taken her workshops abroad to SXSW in Texas, and most recently to Toronto and Finland.

Sarah runs corporate workshops and her clients include adidas, BBC, D&AD, Moo and Wellcome.

Her passion for typography is infectious: “insightful and entertaining”, “brilliant mix of warmth, good humour and real insight”, “Inspiring, educational, very hands on but lots of fun”, “I had never understood why people hold such a passion for typography, now I see why!”

Sarah's passionate knowledge of this fascinating subject is wonderfully infectious. I learnt so much, not only about the history of type, but also about the enormous (and surprising!) impact it has on our perception of the world around us. She's a talented educator and led us through fun a thought provoking process to help us create our own typeface too. I'd love to go back for more!

It was a fun and interactive day to spend with friends and we had a beautiful artwork to take home in the end.

This class was so much fun – it was brilliant stepping away from the computer and getting more hands on with type. It really helped me reconnect with my day job as a graphic designer, open up my creativity and think differently – Sarah really knows her stuff. Highly recommended. (The prosecco makes it much more fun too!)

What a wonderful class! Sarah has a real passion for and depth of knowledge on typography. It was inspiring and educational, yet so much fun, so it was very easy to learn more about it. So much so that I want to delve into it further! I loved that it was so hands-on, rolling up your sleeves and getting back to the nitty gritty of design. I wouldn’t hesitate to take a class led by Sarah again.

An amazing and fun workshop as they all are, in an ever digital world as a digital designer, it was great to get back to a grass roots appreciation of typography in a fun and inspiring way.
