💥 BEGINNERS AIR DRY CLAY POT MAKING WORKSHOP💥

In this social beginners air dry clay workshop you will be guided by our expert ceramic artist on how to sculpt a unique pot using the ancient coil building technique.

Expect clay games and mess hosted in our eccletic arts warehouse in the heart of Hackney Wick.

If you have been to a previous workshop hone your skills and take on making something more ambitious.

Using air dry clay your piece will be ready for you to take home right away but please remember air dry clay is not water tight or food safe.

This workshop is run by foraged clay artist Cecily Loveys Jervoise @cecilylj. Cecily is a London based artist and art educator who has worked with organistions such as The William Morris Society, Gallery No.32 Sculpture Park and Kingston School of Art. She is currently enrolled in Alternative Art MA School of the Damned, a self-lead art school based exploring alternative models of art education.

This workshop is hosted by Hackney Wick Underground, a community-run arts project space situated in a warehouse in the heart of Hackney Wick. We are a home for artists and makers with studios, wood workshop, screen printing studio, art education and much more. We are a non-profit space and model commons ideology while practicing collective authorship. This is a post-covid space responding to the needs of local artists, makers and creatives by providing affordable workspaces, selling platforms and growing a creative community. The workshop will be hosted in our main hall surrounded by artists’ studios and our local maker’s shop.

We reserve a limited number of tickets for people on low income, please contact Cecily directly to access these with no questions asked on workshops@civicstate.co.uk.

Create a beautiful and everlasting dried flower arrangement while enjoying traditional Turkish coffee in the heart of Hackney Wick

About this event
In this workshop, you will be guided on how to make a unique and everlasting dried flower arrangement displayed on a gorgeous, rustic wooden platform.

You will learn about different flower arrangement styles, tips and tricks to make a one-off and eco-friendly flower arrangement made to suit your home! Choosing from a wide range of dried flowers and plants readily available, you will be guided in how to cut, display and personalise the flowers of your choice by dried flower florist and workshop facilitator Berry.

This workshop is the perfect way to unwind, have a freshly brewed Turkish coffee and get creative making something sustainable and working with nature to make something for your home you will have forever!

It is the perfect gift experience for a flower lover in your life. Or you could arrange a private class for you and your friends by emailing workshops@civicstate.co.uk.

Workshop facilitator Berry has a BA in Interior Design which feeds into her professional and well-crafted eye for making things beautiful. She will guide you through the process, providing generous knowledge and relaxed atmosphere to learn and make with nature.

The workshop will last approximately 1.5 hours and you will be provided with freshly brewed Turkish coffee. Our onsite cafe and bar is also available for snacks and drinks throughout. We keep our classes small groups and is appropriate for all skill levels.

This workshop is organised by Hackney Wick Underground, and hosted at our sister organisation The Baths, 80 Eastway, E9 5JH. Hackney Wick Underground and The Baths are initiatives from Civic State Ltd.

Hackney Wick Underground is a community-run arts project situated in the heart of Hackney Wick. We support makers through running workshops and providing a platform for makers to sell through our local makers shop. We are a creative community bringing makers and artists together.
