Rachel Lynes is the founder of SingingLessonsWimbledon.com, SW.est End Masterclasses and The Sing Space, London. As well as running West End holiday camps and West End Masterclasses, she offers one-to-one singing lessons to everyone from children to adult beginners to advanced professionals.
Rachel began teaching because she believes that singing is, quite simply, the best feeling in the world. Eager to help others to maximise their potential, whether you're an advanced professional, already working as an artist, or a beginner looking to commence the journey.
Rachel has been studying the voice for over 20 years. As a singer she trained on scholarship at two of the top musical theatre colleges: ArtsEd, Chiswick and The Arts Educational School, Tring Park, before spending ten years playing leading roles in the West End and internationally (Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Aspects of Love" and "Joseph", Broadway's production of "Bat Boy", "The Tempest" at the Barbican, and an international tour of "Romeo and Juliet.")
When diagnosed with vocal nodules, she felt that her career has been stopped - but with her dreams slipping out of reach she went on a mission, digging deeper and deeper into the mysteries of how our instrument works. By the time my vocal problems were solved, I had sought help from some of the West End's top vocal coaches, including Penni Harvey-Piper and Mark Meylan (Les Mis, the movie). I explored everything from speech therapy, to larynx physiotherapy, hypnotherapy and nutrition and that was just the beginning!
Now, teaching six days a week, she wants to share this knowledge. Rachel's aim is to fully understand the wonders of voice production so that, after exercises, you can forget all about it and just sing!
