Draw or paint in watercolours in at the Royal Inn, sketching in Victoria Park or along Regent's Canal when the weather is fine.

- Learn to select a subject and discover how to bring it to life.
- Use pencils creatively to create atmosphere and light. 
- Make a light under-drawing for a watercolour.
- Learn watercolour techniques from basics to advanced.
- Understand how to create a sense of space and light through colour.




Art in the Park : Victoria Park

Creating art is a type of meditation, an  active training of the mind that increase awareness and emphasizes acceptance of feelings and thoughts without judgment and relaxation of body and mind.

This drawing session provides you with the opportunity to relax and concentrate on :

- developing your observational skills using a combination of mindfulness and right brain focussed techniques.  This will help develop your drawings outside of the judgemental mind that may have inhibited your drawing experience in the past.

- developing further exciting mark making and colourwork.  Here we focus on making drawings based on the sensory and imagined world inspired by sound, music and memory.

Develop observational drawing skills using mindfulness techniques, music and memory

Shoal of Art Workshops with Debra and Mark offer a variety exciting and carefully prepared classes for drawing and painting. We are both qualified, practising artists and highly experienced tutors and we are passionate about sharing our understanding of making art to enable participants to develop their own creative and unique selves.  
Debra is a practising artist specialising in depictions of the human figure, portraiture and the urban environment.  She was trained at Ruskin School of Drawing and Fine Art, Oxford University, and has taken part in a number of artist residencies (most recently FIAF, Italy 2019) and exhibitions.  She has taught adults for many years on various Adult Learning Courses and with WEA.  She also teaches art to children and uses Mindfulness techniques to assist in getting more in touch with your creative flow.  
Mark studied fine art at Middlesex University, and he is a tutor for the Barbican Art Society where he runs courses in mixed media and life drawing. He also works with London Life Drawing. His work encompasses both abstract paintings and figurative and landscape drawings and paintings. He has a strong interest in the history of modern art and in contemporary painting, which inspires him to present interesting ideas and create insightful projects for his students.
