Alan has been a pro photographer for ages. He set up and runs one of the busiest photo studios in Bristol.  Alan works all over the place for some big-name clients and was one of the very first photographers in the UK to go completely digital back in the early days around 2000 – he's been at the “bleeding-edge” of digital developments ever since (although he still loves going back to film on occasion).

Over the years Alan has photographed a huge range of subjects using every type of camera and lighting you could imagine in locations all over the World so he's picked up a few tips and tricks along the way. Photography’s not that hard, honest!  But it can be daunting to start with and great photography can be a fickle thing to get right – he's been teaching for a few years now and has had the honour of seeing some of his students go on to produce stunning work and even win prizes.  Of course most just want to improve a little or simply master the controls – fine, he will steer you gently and considerately as far as you’d like to go.

In addition to commercial work he loves spending his spare time snapping his own family and landscapes because he lives and breathes photography – he's being paid to do his hobby! Alan moved into photography from a scientific background in his late twenties as it’s what he really loves doing most!

For you, Alan hopes that he can transmit some of his huge enthusiasm and help to demystify the whole process of producing great images.
