This class is specifically designed for beginners, looking for an experienced tutor who can guide his students with confidence and help them learn the instrument's basic skills and techniques. 
Every lesson is designed and planned differently in order to suit the needs and musical preferences of every individual student.

In the beginners classes, students are going to learn the fundamentals of guitar (open chords, scales, picking techniques, finger style), contemporary music theory and harmony. They will also develop an understanding of how songs are structured according to basic theory rules. 

In addition, this lesson includes the fine tuning of student's favourite songs and the development of sight reading and ear training skills. 

Beginners' lessons are also tailored to prepare students for contemporary guitar exams.

Preparation is provided for:

- RGT Step Grades and Grade 1 & 2 
- RSL Premiere/Debut Grade and Grade 1 & 2
- Any other music exam upon request

Guitar Lessons for Beginners

My first lesson was about chords shapes, major and minor. I really enjoyed the lesson and Petros was great in explaining and provided me also with some printed exercises to work and practice at home on my own. His home studio is nice and tidy, I brought my guitar with me and I could plug it through his amplifier so I could hear my electric guitar from a real amp!

The lessons are designed for beginner aiming to learn the fundamentals of the instrument in a dynamic environment that will nurture their passion for music

In this lesson, students will learn advanced guitar techniques (arpeggios enclosures, bebop scales,  odd time signatures, retrograde approach, polyrhythms, etc.). 
This class has been designed to help the student develop an arsenal of techniques and skills which are necessary for mastering the instrument and follow a career as a professional musician or guitar tutor in the future. 

Some of this lesson's topics include styles' tuning and arrangement techniques for contemporary styles. Students will learn how to arrange different musical instruments and develop advanced harmony and songwriting skills.

Furthermore, during these lessons the students are trained to recognise extended chords and harmonic changes in tunes by ear while they will be taught how to write music scores and lead sheets effectively.
Scores from West End theatre shows are provided to the students to help them understand, practise and reach a level of competitive skills in the relevant field of the music industry.

These lessons are also designed to prepare the students for exam grades:

- RSL Grades 6, 7 & 8

Guitar Lessons for Advanced 

This lesson is for advanced students who have good knowledge of their instrument and are potentially looking forward to follow a professional musician's career.

In this class, students will learn how to develop their improvisation skills by using a variety of arpeggios, scales, modes, rhythmic patterns in an effective and stylistically appropriate way.

The development of timing and comping  skills by using a variety of dynamics, rhythms and a wide range of triads and picking techniques (hybrid picking, alternate picking, finger-style) are also covered in these lessons. Do not forget 90% of the time we play guitar is rhythm!

A variety of musical styles and genres is also covered in this lesson (Blues, Pop/Rock, Metal, Funk, Reggae, Soul, Jazz, Fusion, etc.) 
Students of that level are introduced to the stylistic elements of every relevant contemporary music genre.

They will also improve their sight reading, ear training, harmony, theory and songwriting skills.

- RSL Grades 3, 4 & 5

Guitar Lessons for Intermediate 

The class is designed for intermediates on guitar looking for an experienced and ambitious tutor to help them develop an arsenal of relevant techniques & skills

I am Petros Stathatos. I am a professional musician, guitarist, songwriter and tutor based in London covering many different genres from pop-rock to hard rock, blues, funk, jazz & fusion.
My main influences include major international artists such as Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, David Gilmour, Mark Knopfler, Scott Henderson, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Johnson. 

I have graduated from BIMM London (2017) where I was awarded with a Music Bachelor Degree, while before I was studying music and taking guitar lessons for another 8 years in my hometown Athens (Musical Praxis Conservatory & National Conservatory of Athens, Greece) where I was trained to teach both eastern & western contemporary music.  Therefore, I teach my students to develop a wide and diverse approach while learning.
Over this period in my career, I have attended lessons with some of the finest masters of the instrument like John Wheatcroft, Les Davidson, Jim Clark and have gained recognition following masterclasses with Nile Rodgers, Frank Gambale, Larry Carlton, Vinnie Moore, Mike Stern, Oz Noy &  Nick Mason among others. I am also no stranger to the London music scene, having formed the rock band Seismic Moonfrog, as lead guitarist & joint songwriter, adding to my 10 years experience as a gigging session musician.

During the lessons, I help the students develop stylistic diversity, essential techniques, advanced popular/jazz theory & harmony, sight reading and ear training and fine-tuning of their favourite songs. Also I prepare students for internationally acclaimed music exams like the RGT & the RSL upon request.
