The workshop was a perfect blend of education, creativity, and fun. I attended it with a workmate and both had an amazing experience that kept us talking about it throughout the working week. Paula is such a knowledgeable, engaging, and enthusiastic instructor! She's well equipped with a huge variety of high-quality oils and individual equipment for each participant, ready for a hands-on learning experience. I was so happy with the final reed diffuser I made for myself! It looks so elegant and beautiful! And it smells like heaven! One of the extended rewards of this workshop is that every time I get home it smells amazing! I would highly recommend Paula's workshop to anyone looking to do something creative while having fun and learning something new. Tina PhillipsThe beginners soap making day was a great event. Although it is called a beginners course, it was aimed at both students who want to start a business as well as those there just for fun. We learned the basic chemistry behind the soap making process as well as the practical skills needed to make bars of soap. Each person left with six bars of soap, all of which were unique to the student, because the variety of colours and perfumes available to choose from was very varied. There were nine students on the day that I attended and each was there for a different reason. The way Laura led the class, each person was treated equally and all questions were answered regardless of whether they were asked by someone there just for fun, or someone thinking about a new career. I really enjoyed my day and would highly recommend this course. Tea, coffee and other drinks were readily available and the "Afternoon Tea" lunch was most enjoyable. Thank you Laura

I arrived at the venue completely confused as to what was going on but was warmly welcomed by Paula, Rosa and the other participants of the course. I only knew what was about to happen when I sat down and was thrilled! What followed was marvellous. Paula was so knowledgeable, personable and a wonderful teacher. The time flew by and there was a collective sense of satisfaction at the end! After 5 hours, we had made two beautiful candles but some participants had paid extra to make reed diffusers and room spray so I asked if I could pay extra so I had the full set. Paula then talked us through how to make the items. The equipment, instruction, refreshments and overall experience were all incredibly high quality. All in all, I couldn’t recommend this day more highly and I would be keen to participate in further courses run by Paula*. My partner could not have found a more perfect gift and I can’t wait to start on my Burn Test homework. * I would pay this time though!
Emma JenkinsAs a complete novice I completed the one-to-one candle making course for business in January 2024 and came away feeling knowledgeable, empowered, and ready to take the next step in producing candles for my business. Everything I needed and wanted to know was covered from making a candle, burn testing, best suppliers, compliance with legislation, marketing etc etc. Nothing was too much for Paula , she was very patient, extremely knowledgeable and warm, all in a lovely conducive environment. The finish time was not stipulated which was great as I did not feel under pressure and plan to complete the diffuser course also. All in all, the course was invaluable and would highly recommend for anyone who is serious about undertaking a candle making business.

She had us all at our own little work stations with mixing bowls, blenders and safety wear blending our soap from scratch, even did the lye blend and after that was done we mixed our own fragrances to the soap and it came out beautiful! So pleased with this course, I will be back for more as I feel we learn everything better by doing it ourselves . I have been on other courses where the teachers pre blend the lye and fragrance and that was not to my satisfaction as I want to learn the skill! Paula is the place to go to if someone want to learn this for a hobby or a business. It would be easier to understand and learn if there was a presentation in a slide show following some order in candle making rather than what felt like just a chat about the topic. We were given a print out A4 about the information but this was just a guideline not everything discussed.

Every aspect is covered to make your business compliant, there are handouts to take home and no question is too simple to ask. Even though Paula had been working all week & holding a Soapmaking course on the Saturday, she still gave M…. & me 2 extra hours on the Sunday which was very generous. Daniel WrightThis is the third of Paula’s wonderful workshops that I have attended; she takes a lot of care to create a great learning experience and is generous with her information, encouragement and support. The soap-making process was a bit like baking and we were taught how to make and handle lye safely. It was a real treat to be helped to mix aromatherapy oils to make the beautiful fragrances that went into our soaps and to have a range of botanicals with which to garnish them. We all went home with 8 soaps which showed everyone’s creativity with the fragrance and appearance – it was a treat to see and smell everyone’s finished soaps. This is a process which can be replicated at home as long as care is taken with making lye and waiting a good number of weeks for the soap to be used safely.
Christine De IonnoThis was the first of Paula’s excellent workshops that I have attended. There was much to learn as making perfect candles is not easy. Paula guided us through the process from start to finish and we all went home with 2 beautifully-fragranced soy candles. The learning environment was relaxed and fun and it was a special day for me and my colleague – both of us were taking time out of our very busy work schedules. I would recommend the workshop to anyone who wants to de-stress from work or other difficult events or just for fun.

She challenged me to create my own recipes instead of following the trends and helped me to have a greater understanding of soap making as an art. I highly recommend this course, as its not only very fun and informative but the cream tea after is delicious! This course is worth every penny and I will be coming back for more at some point.

This course was by far the best with instructions on where to source your supplies and what makes a good candle versus a bad candle. My only comment would be; if someone has stated vegan on their form, to ensure that vegan food options are available. There was nothing clearly labelled and the scones were served with cream.
