The general outline of what can usually be covered in our private lessons is as follows:

- Blocking, wiring, edging headpieces (1 Day)
- Sculptural hats by manipulating sinamay in unusual shapes (1 Day)
- Mother of the Bride or a  Royal Ascot worthy pieces (2 Days)
- Lining and edging felt- tips and tricks of the trade (1 Day)
- Tips and tricks of the trade (1 Day)
- Parisisal Straw (1/2 Days)
- Felt making i.e. a Trilby Hat (2 Days)
- Fascinators and sculptural felt (1 Day)
- Cloche hats (1 Day) 

Private Millinery Tuition with Katherine Elizabeth

Please choose from these option, a discount of 10% can be applied if you book multiple days. Private sessions can also be structured according to one's requirements so it would be good to know a bit about what you would like to learn. After receiving your comments Katherine will be able to suggest the bespoke programme outline. You are free to choose the area of learning and the number of days. 

The private lessons are charged at £250 a day per person and are usually held from 11:00 am – 4:30 pm. 

The materials you will be using on this day are Sinamay, feathers, fabrics, beads, crystals, ribbons etc. We do offer a range of colours in fabric and trim but feel free to bring trims or fabrics of your choice too.

One to one lessons are perfect as one embarks on a creative journey to learn, explore and expand on everything about millinery

How better to prepare for the big day than to make your own headpiece or hat to wear to the occasion, while enjoying afternoon tea and a glass of bubbly?

In this workshop, you will expand your millinery knowledge by learning how to create a lovely fascinator. 

Katherine herself will explain and demonstrate the steps and practice of making a headpiece. You will also learn about cutting and curling feathers, trimmings, bows, sinamay, and flowers.

The cost includes coaching, material, and guidance throughout the duration of the class.

Katherine began her career in millinery under the talented eye of Stephen Jones, creating pieces for the Dior runway shows and the John Galliano boutique in Paris. After working with Catherine Delaney in theatre and film, Katherine set up her own Millinery House which is based in Clerkenwell London.
 
In 2012, Katherine won the London Lifestyle Award for Best London Fashion Retailer. Katherine has also appeared on the BBC coverage of Royal Ascot where she was tasked with making a hat live on air! Another 2012 TV appearance saw Katherine on ITV's Alan Titchmarsh show discussing our Mad Hatter Afternoon Tea Parties!
 
Amongst Katherine's other accolades, she was part of the 2011 Walpole Crafted Scheme for the highest achieving craft professionals of their respective fields. In addition, Katherine won the 'Accessories Designer Award' by Profile, resulting in her designing a collection for the Hobbs King's Road Store.
