Mary Maddocks is a textile artist based in South East London.

Her work combines a passion for woven crafts with a lifelong love of the natural world; she create wall hangings and woven jewellery inspired and informed by natural landscapes, colours and textures. She is particularly drawn to the landscapes of West Wales and the Scottish Highlands, places that hold a special magic for her and where she has spent many happy days.

She hosts weaving workshops for others wanting to create their own woven wall art and absorb themselves in the gentle, meditative craft of weaving.

She creates most of her woven art from her shed-studio at the bottom of her garden!

Mary was attentive and gave good guidance. She bought lots of lovely materials too. Just really wish we had longer to do our weaves as I really enjoyed the process but only got to make a very small weave. Its worth noting we did have the option to buy the loom instead of cutting out our small designs! Can't wait to do a longer session! :)

Mary's workshop was brilliant. From the moment you stepped into Mary's lovely house you felt like you were welcome. Mary is an approachable, knowledgable and warm person- everything you could want in a workshop host! This is a really special class and although it is a bit on the pricy side Mary pulls out all the stops and makes it worth it!

Mary was a wonderful host and teacher! The most perfect afternoon spent eating homemade cake, drinking endless cups of tea and learning to weave with the most beautiful quality wools in Mary's lovely sunny home. The take-home kit has everything you need to keep going too. Worth every penny :)

The two hours with Mary was wonderfully relaxing and a great introduction to the basics of weaving. I loved it so much that I bought the loom so that I can carry on at home. Mary is a talented teacher and textile artist. I would definitely recommend to any beginners.
