This introductory mosaic course is for children ages 8-16. Mosaic making is taught during the sessions through engaging in a number of connected subject areas from art history through to geography and beyond.

Alice MacDonnell is an experienced arts educator whose work with the children supplements their school curriculum, whilst through learning mosaic techniques, gives them a practical new skillset and outlook on artistic practice.

**Week 6 to 10 - Mosaics in Architecture **

Our first lesson will be dedicated to the Spanish artist Gaudi and his use of mosaics in his iconic buildings. Inspired by his work, we will be using the idea of recycling materials for our mini masterpieces. This course will also be highlighting mosaics as public art, asking where and how mosaics are used in the modern day. Covering international street artists such as Ememem and 'Invader' , all the way home to London based artist Carrie Reichardt Mosaic house.
