Head & Hands curates and hosts a number of mindful workshops to help busy the hands and quiet the mind through tactile craft. These take place at Holdspace, a centre for arts and wellbeing in Angel, Islington.

Head & hands is founded by Amanda. Sometimes classes are taught by her, but she also invites a number of different artists and teachers to the programme to share skills and wisdom.

Previous workshops include weaving, ceramics, macrame, crystal jewellery making, embroidery, natural dyeing, botanical watercolour painting, calligraphy, cross stitch and printmaking.

It was a well run class, well organised with fresh warm pizza on offer with tea. Amanda was attentive to participants and had her partner who helped in the workshop too. I would recommend it to people to try.

I had such a great time at this work shop! I learnt new knot skills which gave me a real sense of achievement and seeing my plant hanger grow as I created it was really satisfying! Would highly recommend this class as a way to relax and to learn. The pace and tone was spot on - help was always at hand if anyone was in a tangle! I am very chuffed with my new creation!

This class was so lovely! The venue was cosy yet spacious with pretty fairy lights and lovely scents - there was even a pot of tea for everyone to enjoy! The class was intimate and friendly and I had the opportunity to meet other lovely crafty crafters. Amanda was a great teacher helping everyone out along the way and we all got to leave the workshop with our very own Macramé Plant Holder - I'll be visiting again!

I was so happy to learn new knowledge and crafts, and the teachers are so kindly informed us that I was able to keep up with it without any difficulties. It was really enjoyable time. The one bad thing was that i felt like the time passed too fast because it was too fun :) I will attend this class next time again!!

Taking charge of my well-being by discarding what was no longer serving me, establishing self-care rituals, the healing magic of slow crafts and rearranging my lifestyle a little, helped me finally get back on top of my health after years of being dragged along by it.
