Designer Courses offers practical short courses in fashion accessory design - including handbags, light leather goods, glove-making, costume jewellery and much more.
DC began life in 2005 as the brainchild of designer-maker, Katherine Pogson. Katherine is author of "How to Work with Leather" (Pavilion books, 2017)and has nearly twenty years experience as a professional designer. She has created patterns and bespoke products for fashion, interiors and product design clients including Mulberry, Donna Karan and Hussein Chalayan.
Katherine offers a series of intense weekend courses, alongside evenings, a summer school, and options for tailored one-to-one tuition. Her approach is warm, patient and hands-on - the emphasis is on materials experimentation, practical techniques and individual creativity.
Design is key to the approach at DC - the clue's in the name! Whether you want to learn a new skill, develop your ideas for an independent design label, or simply destress with a practical hobby, Katherine will encourage you to develop your own designs to express your signature style.
A generous materials allowance is included in the price of most courses, and all the tools and equipment are provided, including detailed handouts on suppliers, key technical information and other resources.
Katherine has been passing on her skills for over a decade now, encouraging others to discover the true satisfaction in making by hand.
