Angela PhuongI really liked the teacher and the setting for the class, but there's room for improvement. We spent so much time glazing the tiles that we had very little time for applying the design and painting the tiles. I think it would have been better for the teacher to do the glazing before we arrived, and just demoed it during the class. There were only two attendees, and the teacher offered us both lots of help, but she said very few people get through all four tiles because of the time constraints. Also, only four designs were available, which I thought was very limited. It would have been really helpful if we'd been emailed before the class with information about the size of the tiles and the sort of designs that work, so we could have had time to think about designs and bring ideas. I didn't like what I made, and I don't think I will collect the tiles - which is very rare for me. It wouldn't put me off classes at Decima - I did a great one last year and have another booked - but I wouldn't recommend this particular class, unless they make some changes.
AliceI loved learning how to use this method. Liz is a brilliant teacher. The goes at a good pace and is really supportive. There’s a good number of people in the class so you don’t get lost or have to wait too long for help. Would highly recommend.

Eden DanThis class was a fantastic! Really enjoyed working with liquid clay and being able to cast each piece. You can get as creative as you want! This was my first time doing this sort of craft and can highly recommend it to anyone looking for a fun few hours!

Paul SabasThis was an absolutely fabulous course. The venue was easy to find and travel to. The teacher was fantastic and explained thoroughly what we would be doing step by step without overwhelming us with information and instruction. I went with my daughter and we were totally absorbed in the process from start to finish. I would say I’m not particularly artistic but it has really inspired me to book another course. Highly recommended for those looking to dip your toes into the ceramic waters. We will be collecting our tiles in a few days and are very excited to see the results.

I thought the session could have benefited from being maybe an hour longer to give participants a bit more time to relax and feel creative. At times it felt as though it was a bit of a rush to get us all done and out.
Elizabeth MannThis was my second slipcasting workshop with Decima and I enjoyed it! Each instructor brings slightly different and new insights to the class, which is very helpful for the students. Liz was a great instructor and led the class effectively - she was very efficient, keeping us moving along at a good pace, which meant we were able to see both of our pieces after they had been removed from their molds.

The experience was, as always, a delightful one, and I feel compelled to share my thoughts. The teacher at Decima Clay Studio is fantastic. Their guidance and expertise created a warm and encouraging atmosphere, perfect for honing one's pottery skills. They were attentive to every student's needs, offering invaluable advice and patiently helping us to improve our techniques. It's rare to find an instructor who not only has a wealth of knowledge but is also so committed to their students' success. The structure of the drop-in session was well-organised and easy to follow. The wheel rental process was seamless, and I was quickly set up to work on my pottery piece. The session was designed to accommodate students at various skill levels, so I never felt out of place or overwhelmed. The pacing was just right, allowing ample time to practice and learn while also maintaining a sense of progression.

The time went really quickly and had a wonderful knowledgeable dedicated tutor. I'd definitely recommend as a gift experience or if you're interested in taking up wheel-throwing. The session was really enjoyable-relaxing, informative and productive. Not having done any claywork for years and years, we both felt we improved our skills. Real lifelong learning! What is more, we were both pleased with the results. We would both love to do more of this. Excellent!

However, the class finished early to do the washing up and I don't think clean up time should be included as part of the 2-hour teaching time you pay for. In addition, when we went to collect our pots from the studio after glazing they'd been labelled incorrectly so no one knew where they were; we had to go through all the pots from workshops to try to identify the ones we made

It was a very welcoming and friendly space. The teachers were very knowledgable and professional with a lot of ceramic experience All the tools and equipment was laid out and there was plenty of time for all the processes with full explanations of what to do, and to not do and some of the science behind the technique

I got a chance to make a cup which was later fired and I picked it up from the studio. I found working with clay really relaxing and the overall experience at Decima Clay was just excellent: beautiful and cosy studio, and my group mates were lovely! Looking forward to be back at the studio for the beginner course or further sessions! ♥️
GiennyHands down best clay experience! Inez was extremely knowledgable and so helpful. She gave us an intro on how to do some basic techniques, let us chose our own clay and then helped us build and perfect our creations. This class is great because if you're a beginner they can give you lots of guidance but if you're advanced you basically get free range to let your imagination come to life. It was such a relaxed setting, and the little studio dog was the highlight of the experience! There's also snacks and refreshments and location is super central. Booking another session with Decima asap! Thanks Irina and Ines!
