This dynamic class is a practical introduction to the absolute basics of painting and drawing.  

We will start by the exploration of the fundamentals of Perspective, Drawing in proportion, Line and form, Composition, Texture and Colour Theory.  Drawing and painting what we see first. 

We will then move on to look into well known art movements like Cubism, Surrealism and approaches to Art like Abstraction and Frottage.  

Then lastly, encouragement to develop to your own work as artists through either set projects or if you want, you can do your own thing.  

The rolling nature of the classes suits an absolute beginner, hobbyist as well those who have had some experience and have in mind to use the classes to build a body of work to study the subject further.  

The structure of the classes are based on the elements found in existing fine art foundation courses, while being fun and for those who want to unwind after a weeks work.

Once or twice yearly landscape painting trips to Hampstead Heath during the summer bring the online and in person together. (Weather depending)

Beginners Painting and Drawing Foundation

A beginners foundation class in painting and drawing 

A lively and dynamic class run by an artist who has twenty five years experience of teaching life drawing and painting.  This two hour weekly drop in session is for all levels of ability from the absolute beginner to those who have done a lot of life drawing before or have gotten a bit rusty with it. Gentle guidance and a structured approach is offered for those just starting out and a ‘leave largely alone’ slant for those with more experience and want to just do their own thing. Sessions start as is generally done in art schools with fast poses leading to longer poses. Both male and female models will be available.  

Life Drawing and Painting

A lively and dynamic class run by an artist who has twenty five years experience of teaching life drawing and painting.  

This course is run by Derek Ogbourne, a widely exhibited practicing artist with 25 years of teaching experience across all disiplines and educational levels from Foundation to BA Fine Art, covering: Painting and Drawing to Video, Installation, Performance to Sculpture.  

He studied at the Slade School of Fine Art (BA and MA) during the 1980's and his most notable  exhibitions include What Make You, What Makes You at the South London Gallery,  Space International, Valencia, Spain and the Museum of Optography at Sharjah Foundation, UAE. 
His recent film 'Bison Hill' (2022) continues to win numerous awards at film festivals all over the world.
 
The classes are run from the artists studio which is located right alongside the Grand Union Canal where swans and ducks and boats happily coexist outside during classes.
