As a child who was very shy and awkward, making things alongside others was a way to make connections or escape from the world, depending on how Rachel was feeling. It was something she was good at, could share in, and find common ground with people. 

A number of years ago, during some really hard times in her personal life, getting involved in craft activities gave her some time to take her mind away from everything else that was going on. It was a time out, an unofficial therapy with something tangible at the end, and gave Rachel the space to build up her strength to carry on. 

Being part of a crafty, creative community can be something special. They're generally a really great group of people! Generous of spirit, eager to share skills and knowledge. She knew she had found her people. 

One particular workshop that she attended really lit a spark inside of her. It was a day learning how to create fascinators, using a material called sinamay. Something about this material really caught her imagination; Rachel went home to order supplies straight away and became immersed in the world of millinery. 

She enjoys making hats for people, but even more so, she loves to help you make your own! When Rachel started to run workshops for millinery skills, she knew she was onto something special. Every workshop was well-received and the feedback was heart-warming and wonderful to hear.
