What you will do
2 hour class
Succulents. They're everywhere right now, and show no sign of going away any time soon. The ultimate low maintenance plant, these sugar succulents will not die when you don't water them!
Great as a stand along decorative piece, or wired into a spray for a wedding or celebration cake , these versatile plants are fun to make and dead on trend. Succulents are fantasticwhen wired into flower sprays - they add unusual texture, colour and shape.
You will make two varieties of these sugar flowers from flower paste. The leaves are all modelled by hand, no cutters used at all. This class is a good introduction to the skills essential for flower making : Wiring, dusting and taping.
This two hour class will cover:
What is flower paste and where to buy
Equipment needed for making succulents
Modelling the leaves individually by hand
Taping together the leaves to form a plant
Adding dimension and shading using petal dusts
Modelling realistic pebbles from sugarpaste
Suitable for complete beginners through to intermediate flower makers.
All equipment is provided, and you will go home with the equipment you used so you can have another go at home.

About your host, Little Whisk
Erica started Little Whisk in 2016 and began by selling wedding and celebration cakes. The sugarcraft club she belongs was running low on funds so in 2014 she volunteered to run some workshops and discovered a love of teaching. After receiving great feedback she completed the British Sugarcraft Guild’s demonstrator training in 2016 and is now an Accredited Demonstrator and teaches at branches around the South East.
Now teaching more than selling cakes, Erica loves to see her students grow in confidence and ability. Nothing makes her happier than seeing someone create something they thought they couldn’t do, or taking her ideas and turning them into something new.
Erica’s background is in craft, having spent ALL her childhood pocket money on glitter pens, sequins, fabric, stationery and fimo. She currently dabbles in stained glass, papercraft, sewing, cross stitch, dance and aerial when not cake-ing and is trying to learn to draw. She set up her classes in Welling after being frustrated at the lack of crafty options held even vaguely locally.
Her teaching style is organised but informal and relaxed, and she is happy to share all her knowledge so you can get the most out of your time in class.
