    About this class

    Learn the art of making the perfect sourdough bread with this hands-on beginners class. Master all the basic techniques for creating a variety of wonderfully tasty loafs that students will be able to recreate time and time again. Knead I say more?

    In this class

    This fun and interactive class will take you through the fundamental techniques of sourdough making, as students master the art and science of this traditional form of baking, beginning with making their own sourdough starter. Rye and wheat flour will be used to make 2 different types of bread and focaccia. Students will also be taught how to adapt these techniques to make a diverse range of recipes which they will be able to wow friends and family with time and time again.

    • Use the starter kit (and notes) provided in the class to invent their own unique loafs at home

    Keep / Eat

    All materials and the use of an apron will be provided during the class. Students will be able to take away all that is baked during the class, along with a sourdough starter kit and course notes. Email support is also included in the package to ensure that students are able to further their sourdough making skills after the class has finished.

However, sourdough is also one of the most natural breads, made with wild yeast, bacteria, and whole grain flower, making it one of the oldest and most original forms of leavened bread. This truly ancient art form is created in harmony with nature and its only natural that we eat plenty of it!

    Badgerbrook Breads is a micro bakery in based in Ladywell, South East London, with a focus on making delicious breads and buns for delivery and wholesale, as well as providing engaging and hands-on baking classes. Classes are run by Tacey Laurie, who had been baking for 20 years before starting up Badgerbrook Breads. The classes are at Tacey's home in Brockley, which offers a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

    Tacey's belief is that it's important to eat good food. Good food should never be an expensive indulgence, a rare treat, or a luxury that we enjoy on occasions, but instead a part of day-to-day life. To achieve this, the easiest route must be to make it yourself!

    With this in mind, Badgerbrook Breads offers the chance to introduce people of all experience to the joys of baking. Its aim is to pass on all the vital techniques, tips and tricks of baking so that more people can start to cook up a storm at home.
