What you will do
2 hour workshop
Can you roll out a sheet of pastry? Using a kitchen rolling pin (and a set of guides for thickness) Francesca will show you how to roll out clay evenly. A choice of circle and square shapes will be available to help you cut your tiles to match your design idea.
If you have a drawing, image or pattern you like and want to reproduce on the tiles please bring it along. Francesca will offer suggestions and ideas on how to print, press and paint while you wait for your titles to firm up on the board.
Tiles can be little masterpieces in their own right and can be used as decorative wall tiles, coasters, pot placers and serving dishes for a toast or croissant with your coffee in the morning.

About your host, F V Ceramics Studio
Francesca has been working as a ceramic maker since 2001 and graduated from Central Saint Martins with Hons in 2009. She established her studio in 2015 and have been working under F V Ceramics ever since.
She has been teaching adults both at her studio and at a North London’s art centre for over two years. In the past she has been involved with a children art charity, delivering after school clay activities to primary school pupils and their parents.
In her practice she uses mainly porcelain, creating collections of jewellery and tableware that she sells at markets and online. Pure and coloured porcelain bodies are combined to produce simple and elegant designs to wear and adorn our body and home.
Francesca runs weekly evenings and weekend classes in the main hand-building techniques - pinching, coiling, slabbing - and introduces decorative techniques for clay using slips (clay paints) and textures. She loves teaching and giving others a platform to encounter materials and learn skills to express their imagination and creativity in a relaxed, social and informal setting.
Her studio is located between Earlsfield and Tooting and within a thriving community of artists and makers. The studio is easy to get to by train, bus and has free parking on site.
Everything is provided including an apron, just bring your imagination!
