Suzan fell in love with clay in her early teens in Turkey, but didn't have the chance to get her hands dirty until after she came to London and enrolled to a part time course in 2004. After finishing her BTEC certification classes in Kensington and Chelsea college Suzan practiced her pottery in a studio share in Kilburn .

In 2017 Suzan finally opened her own studio in Plaistow where she designs and creates all of her work which is inspired from her mixed family background, and travels.

What a lovely class! I was a total novice to pottery, but Suzan skillfully introduced me to wonderful work of throwing and I left with a smile on my face and some great pots as a memory! The class gives great progression, starting with clear explanation with ample time to have a go and experience it for yourself. Highly recommend it! :)

Suzan was patient, clear in her instructions and gave me feedback along the way. She is a reassuring and pleasant teacher. The only aspect of the class that I would change is being able to take two, instead of just one, piece of pottery home.

Absolutely incredible to work with Suzan. Suzan was very good with us gave individual attention and helped us really enjoy the class. I had never done this before but it was a great class to do with my girlfriend and I would thoroughly recommend this class to anyone. It is great value for money and you will have a great time. Thank you for a great class Suzan

Yesterday we went for our very first class for pottery and we were so pleased with what we made but more pleased with Suzan who is just such a lovely person. Suzan took the time to go over everything and let us take pictures and film so we can have for our socials. We truly enjoyed meeting Suzan and will be back to learn more, can’t recommend her enough! Thank you Suzan for yesterday like we said most likely the best day of our year so far!! Nicole x
Dee - June 9th
A lovely lesson with a very patient and attentive teacher who lets you go at your own pace, while also being a gentle guiding hand. Perfect for a beginner who has no idea what they are doing.

Suzan is an amazing teacher! We took the Beginners Pottery Wheel Class as a starter to our journey into pottery. It was a pleasure to learn with Suzan. We enjoyed every minute of it.

Suzan is bright, kind, and such a great teacher. doing this pottery class felt like a breath of fresh air and it was such a great opportunity to do something different in London! Might treat myself and do another class!

If you are looking for a beginners class, that’s very hands on & with lots of personal direction, then this is the class for you. Suzan is a wonderful instructor. She’s patient, knowledgeable and provides a very comfortable studio in which to learn. Don’t wait, sign up for her class. You won’t be disappointed !
Clare Dale - May 12th
Suzan. Thanks for a great pottery session. After your clear demonstration I got my hands on the clay and managed to produce my first pots. Working with the wheel brings it's own challenges but you were on hand to guide me through. Thanks for your patience.
Gabriel - May 6th
Suzan is an AMAZING teacher who is friendly and passionate about pottery. She is especially patient towards beginners. My partner and I really enjoyed the session and we highly recommend her to anyone who is looking to learn pottery!

I had a wonderful pottery class with Suzan She is very knowledgeable , welcoming, friendly and patient. It was lovely to get back to learning face to face and Suzan is a great teacher . I got to make several pots and can not wait to take them home .
Mike - March 22nd
Suzan was brilliant. Very patient and didn't take it too seriously. We learnt enough that by the end we had both made something, and felt great! We visited as a birthday activity (two adults) and had a whale of a time.
Christina - December 9th
Gave this class as a present to my partner and he absolutely enjoyed himself! Now I want to go back and take one myself ;)
Gizelle - December 7th
Suzan was great, she introduced herself and gave an overview of her Pottery history. Nice small class so had the attention required for a beginner, she didn't hovver giving instructions but was always there when I needed help and assistance. She has amazing facilities in a small space, beautiful displays of her own work. I look forward to collecting my glazed pots.
Rad - December 6th
Great class! Suzan is a great teacher, very patient and great fun, we spent really good time with her! Highly recommended.
Anna - November 15th
Suzan was a great instructor! My friend and I went for a lesson in summer 2020 and received our own private session in a covid safe and secure environment at no extra cost. We were both beginners and Suzan was brilliant at guiding us through, showing us how to use the wheel and different techniques, but still allowing us to do our own thing (whilst ensuring it didn’t go to wrong and we still had decent pots at the end of the day!). All of her products look amazing and we can’t wait to see the end result of our class. We would highly recommend, especially as Suzan herself was so friendly and nice!
Vilislava - October 30th
I spend a great time and learn a lot of new things about pottery from the lovely teacher Suzan. She was amazing and very polite. Highly recommend to everyone to visit her class and enjoy the experience!
Jeremiah - October 21st
Suzan was a lovely teacher and we had a great time learning how to use the pottery wheel and working with clay. The session was very small (only 2 people max) so it was very interactive and great for beginners as you get a good chance to ask questions / figure out what is working / not working for you. Highly recommend!
Mike - October 21st
This was my first time throwing and Suzan made it a fantastic experience. I left having made a few (admittedly wonky) pots and can’t wait to collect them after they’re fired. Suzan was a delight throughout and her studio is lovely and homely. I’ll definitely be back.
CHERIFA - October 8th
The beginner pottery wheel class with Susan was so great, I wished I could have stayed longer. She's a great teacher, giving us great tips and easy to follow guidance in a relaxed atmosphere. Despite being the queen of clumsy with Susan's help I managed to throw some very decent pieces and finally had the courage to try facing my own wheel at home. Since attending the class I have been on practicing at home and it certainly has built up my confidence and curiosity towards pottery; I spent the remainder of that day and the next on my wheel at home then two more days catching up with the work I was meant to do then, but I have absolutely no regrets. I highly recommend anyone wondering about pottery or just looking to spend a very fun learning moment to try this class!
Anne - September 23rd
I had such a good time learning to use the wheel and the skills I observed with throwing, shaping etc were perfect. My very first attempt on the pottery wheel and I made 4 small pots.
Sara - September 17th
I had a great couple of hours with Suzan, learning how to use the wheel and throw a few 'unique' creations...! It's an enormously satisfying activity, Suzan is a really encouraging tutor and guides you through each process, helping you develop your skills with each throw. Highly recommended.
Georgia - March 11th
Great class and easy to follow, Suzan is a fabulous teacher and price is great! It was my first time ever doing pottery after wanting to do it for a while and created several successful outcomes!
Richard - February 5th
Great class and great teacher. Really enjoyed the experience, would recommend to others. Thanks Suzan x
Aedryan - January 29th
Suzan is very welcoming and a great instructor. You get multiple goes at making something and so should end the session with at least one thing to keep. Suzan will then fire and glaze your creation for you. It's a really fun session. There is 2 hour paid parking on the road outside. Otherwise Queen's Market has paid parking and is about 10 - 15 minutes walk away.
Sophie - January 28th
Suzan is a great teacher and I had an absolutely great time, having never used a wheel before I left having made 3 pots! I'll definitely be pursuing pottery further after this brilliant introduction. Thank you Suzan!
Daniel-Ernest - January 21st
Suzan is a great teacher and the class was really fun. We were a pair of pottery novices and Suzan taught us the basics really well. She was very approachable and made the time fly by! We loved watching a master at work showing us how to actually make a bowl and we loved the freedom to experiment and make our own mistakes. We cannot wait to pick up our creations. Would thoroughly recommend Suzan and her studio to anyone!
Andy - January 13th
Me and my girlfriend were both new to pottery and we really couldn't have asked for a better introduction. Suzan made the experience so enjoyable, we would thoroughly recommend this workshop to anyone looking to give pottery a go!
Deborah - January 11th
My partner Sue and I attended Suzan’s Beginners Pottery Wheel Class today and we had such a great time. It really was so much fun and, much to our delight and surprise, we produced some bowls that we are very proud of. Suzan is an excellent teacher. She explained and demonstrated the techniques so clearly and with such patience. She truly made the class a great experience and we can thoroughly recommend it. In fact, we are planning to book more sessions with Suzan.
Harry - October 28th
The class was very relaxed and Suzan is very friendly and informed. Having just two people means you really get the attention you need when doing this for the first time and you come away feeling like you've learnt a lot. The small cost to get extra pieces glazed and fired was an added bonus! Definitely recommend.

Suzan’s a super friendly lady and great teacher. Her classes are small (usually just 1 or 2 students I believe) so you’ll get a lot of one on one guidance when it’s your turn to take the wheel after an explanation/demonstration of the basic techniques. I was given plenty of time and materials to keep practising, and after a few wobbly attempts I ended the class actually making a pretty respectable looking pot for a total beginner! My pot will be glazed and fired and ready to collect in a few weeks time. I thoroughly enjoyed my class with Suzan in her lovely studio in East London, and hope to return for more soon!
Jaspreet - July 8th
First of all I'd like to mention that my partner and I had never worked with a pottery wheel before, and this was the perfect workshop for a complete beginner! I bought this as a birthday gift for my partner and I am so pleased that I did as we both had an amazing time! The private setup was excellent as it allowed us both to get the attention and one-on-one guidance that we needed. Suzan is very friendly and super talented, myself and my partner felt at complete ease learning from her. Suzan was so lovely and encouraging as a teacher and gave us both step-by-step guidance on how to work the clay & pottery wheel. The class only included one item to take away but Suzan was kind enough to let us take home as many of our creations as we liked for just a pound (dependent on size) for each piece, amazing value! Overall, an amazing class with the kindest teacher - would highly recommend :)
Paul - July 3rd
We thoroughly enjoyed our beginners pottery wheel class with Suzan. I booked this as a gift for my partner’s Birthday and really glad I did. As complete novices, Suzan was patient and very knowledgeable, showing us little tricks and tips along the way. She really helped us get to grips with the basics and made it fun during the process. Really looking forward to doing it again. Thanks again Suzan!
Hannah - April 12th
What an amazing session! Susan was a great teacher, showing me exactly what to do and giving me plenty of time to enjoy it and have a play. I'm very excited about picking up my finished peices soon!
Anna - February 3rd
A truly wonderful class! Thank you Suzan for the most fun and productive 2 hours. Suzan takes her time with each student and makes it such a relaxed and enriching learning experience, where we were encouraged to be creative and we had multiple goes on the wheel. My friend and I left feeling so happy with the experience and with our pottery creations!
Marco - January 30th
It was amazing! Suzan is great! She explained everything we needed to know, making it fun and very instructive. We had never tried pottery and managed to make several bowls! Very recommended!
Sujata Ravi & Varun Mathur - January 20th
We learnt the basics of throwing pots, and the fundamentals of a using the potters wheel. Suzan was a lovely teacher, and she gave us an amazing introduction to pottery. My husband gifted me the experience as a birthday present, and I couldn’t have imagined a better way to spend my birthday! Suzan first demonstrated the basics to us, and then let us experiment independently. She let us explore the technique and offered help and guidance throughout. We will definitely go back to Suzan for more classes when our schedules allow. Thanks a lot, Suzan! And so glad to come across your studio on Obby!
Yvette - January 4th
Susan was lovely and a fantastic teacher, she made us very welcome and relaxed...my daughter and I created beautiful pots... would recommend to everyone
Angela - November 30th
I had a great time with Suzan yesterday. She was very welcoming, gave a good demonstration and then let me get started. Suzan was on hand to remind me of each step and to guide me in the process. And there was no skimping on the clay available. I was thrilled with the results and will do more.
julie - September 30th
I thoroughly enjoyed the beginners pottery class with Suzan. A very relaxed environment with clear instruction on how to use the wheel. As the group is small there is plenty of 1:1 support and direction. Definitely booking up some lessons. :)
Maria - May 27th
Excellent atmosphere and teacher. I learnt a lot in a very brief space of time.
Anonymous - May 24th
I enjoyed all the classes Suzan taught very much. Suzan is a very patient and supportive teacher. She is very skilled and creative. I learnt a lot and was able to make some lovely things to take home.
Anonymous - May 24th
Suzan was great. I did a hand building class where we made some gorgeous bowls. Great fun and great tutoring from Suzan.
Anonymous - May 23rd
I'd never worked with a pottery wheel before, and this was an excellent workshop for a complete beginner - easy-going, comfortable and reassuring. Suzan is a lovely, encouraging teacher who gave me enough step-by-step guidance to make a confident start, but also allowed plenty of scope to explore and just play around with a new material. Firing and glazing a finished piece (to be collected later) was included in the price, but she was happy to fire and glaze two more pieces I produced for a nominal cost contribution, so I ended up with three proper, handmade bowls I am really happy to have and use! The venue was easy to reach, just a short walk from Upton Park tube.
