art-K teaches art adults across 30+ branches in England in dedicated studio spaces.

They provide a calm, welcoming studio where students can learn a variety of mediums such as pastels, watercolours, acrylics, clay, and papier-mâché, to help each individual develop a variety of techniques.

The studio is run by Pip, who studied Fine Art at university before going on to qualify as a teacher. After teaching in a school, Pip wanted to return to her artistic roots an began running art-K in Purley. Pip finds a lot of happiness in making art and hopes that she can help others to find the same experience.

Pip is a fantastic teacher, and I am really enjoying the classes and feel my drawing and painting has improved massively. I had never done anything other than painting before, and now I really enjoy making things in 3D! Would definitely recommend to any ability.

I thoroughly enjoy attending art classes and Pip (art teacher) is extremely helpful and supportive. I am always so pleased with the art I create in the sessions and the relaxed atmosphere gives me the confidence to step outside my comfort zone and attempt new styles of painting. I look forward to continuing my learning and using more materials.

I joined the Purley branch since it started, experienced a few tutors so far, they were all very nice and helpful, particularly Stephanie and Pip. I like the teaching style of ArtK because they are not strictly asking you to follow some boring technics. As an adult beginner, I can do almost whatever I like with their instructions and help. I have more confidence with my brush and colour blending now. I need more practice in portraits. But it does not matter you are not very good at something. More important is to choose kind of art you like and have fun and peaceful time for yourselves, who would say no to that? The venue is superb too, my son is in the children’s class on Saturday and he has other activities around Purley too, like swimming and Karate, so it’s basically a convenient area. Not even talk about the bus 466 can take us directly between home and the venue, so not much stress for parking! Thanks Art K, you brought me something enjoyable in my life.

I learnt different techniques and have used various mediums. I prefer the informal style which is not like a traditional classroom! As an adult I do enjoy those teachers that have been forthright and provided honest feedback!

I was looking to do something different with my evenings after work, and I am happy to say I picked the right thing! Alice was a great teacher who was courteous and very forthcoming in asking what I wanted from the session. I ended up leaving with a drip painting that I am really happy with, and it was great to spend some time in a fun and creative space for a few hours!
