The Avenue Cookery School is a family-run leaning business based in Wandsworth in South West London. The owner and head chef Diana began her career as a chalet chef before discovering her entrepreneurial side and founding a number of specialist food ventures. Infamously, Diana taught at The Grange Cookery School in Somerset for 7 years before starting The Avenue, where she has been ever since.

Diana is supported by her son Richard and daughter Sophie.

The food at The Avenue can be considered classic chic but full of fun twists and turns (ranging from macaroon masterclasses to gluten free baking to simple supper classes). All the classes are taught in the school's beautiful kitchen facilities in a relaxed environment.

The glass was great, the cooking school is much nicer than other cooking schools I've been to with bunting on the ceiling and cute homey decor. We made a range of breads, learnt how to make bread at home and had a box to take away.

The class was really good. What would have made it better if we were told the agenda of the evening at the start so we knew what time stuff was going to happen, Ie – I’m going to show you skills for one hour, then you are going to put them into practice, and then we are going to eat the food you prepared at about xx o clock. That was people would know what to expect from the off. Otherwise it was a really enjoyable class and a knowledgeable teacher. I would be interested in finding out how to chop meat as well as vegetables if that is part of the next course.

Lovely teaching style and came away with some game changing techniques! Shame we didn’t learn how to cut the fish we ate though.

Had a fantastic time learning how to cook some lovely vegan dishes. Great fun with friends or on you're own (You'll make new friends while there). Lots of help if needed, and lots of wine! Would recommend taking the train as there is very minimal parking...and you can have a drink. The staff are highly enthusiastic and don't make you feel bad if you cant cook...which is me! Would definitely recommend!

The Course was really informative and fun. Our instructor Diana made it seem effortless and also tought us various techniques and provided us with lots of tips all in a friendly warm environment. I definitely recommend the Course and everything Diana might offer.

An enjoyable few hours spent learning about the art of breadmaking! Richard was very knowledgeable about all things doughy and gave clear demos of each of the different breads before we set about mixing and kneading ourselves. Boxes were provided to transport our delicious baked goods safely home.

Fun class with great tasting food. Could be improved by focusing explicitly on different knife skill techniques for different food items (i.e. vegetables, fish, meat) paired with each meal cooked rather than a general overview of cutting techniques at the beginning of the class.

I bought this ad a gift for my partner, he says “They were very friendly and very hands on with the advise and really keen to share what they knew and the food was excellent.” He came home super excited and super full after an epic meal, looking forward to all the yummy things he’s going to slice and dice for me at home now.

This was a great class and I learnt so much from David about pigs and where all the cuts of meat are from. Can't wait to put my new butchery skills to good use at home!

The class was lots of fun and I’m looking forward to trying out some of the dishes at home. For 5 stars it would have been nice to have tried some more adventurous dishes.

This is the second class I've taken, and it is brilliant fun! There's always a great atmosphere and people are eager to chat to one another and enjoy themselves. I've left both classes feeling like I've learnt valuable skills and highly recommend to anyone looking to gain extra skills in the kitchen

Great class - picked up some tips, made a lovely brunch & met some great people. What I really liked about Avenue Cookery compared to other cooking classes I have been on is that there were plenty of chefs around to help all groups instead of one chef having to try and manage questions from everyone. Would definitely go back again!
