Top class! Incredibly friendly and comfortable environment in the middle of London.
Lots of information. Clear demos. Friendly staff. Learned more than expected.
Great fun, lovely room with good facilities. The teacher was engaging and really likeable.
Richard was excellent as always - knowledgeable, cool and hilarious. Bao buns and all the accoutrements were delicious. Had a great evening. Will definitely be back!
A very enjoyable morning making doughnuts! Nice class and tutor
Getting covid meant not being able to attend this lesson, and they didnt even allow rescheduling. Just 'greedy for cash' type of management. Save your money for somewhere with a few morals at least. The same class I had to rebook a few months back as they cancelled my booking without explanation....and I thought I should give them the benefit of the doubt back then.... just a shame
Really enjoyable evening. Rich was extremely engaging as a tutor, was passionate about the process of coming and the science behind (which was really interesting as it connected the dots between things you knew). Lots of useful tips that made you feel empowered to do it again when you were in your own kitchen. He circulated the class, but did not comment on everything so you assumed if he had not said anything, you were doing alright. Would have been nice to have checked that everyone could see as some bits of the demonstration were hard to see form where I was positioned. Overall, a really good experience, and I have already looked to see what I might be interested in going back for!
I had an amazing time! I learnt a lot (i.e. knife skills and marinading) in the process. I loved the whole vibe and the space is very nice and clean.
Everything was great.
Richard is very knowledgeable and a good teacher. I learnt how to make different types of bread in a friendly environment and developed a new skill. I would definitely recommend this class.
Snapped my patella tendon and couldn't attend. Missed the skill course and lost my money! Was offered 10% off a new booking...
We had so much fun and learned a lot - we have reused the recipes many times! thank you!
Had a fantastic time. The instructors were fabulous and made everything easy to follow. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and we had plenty of room to cook socially distanced from each other.
This was definitely a fun evening, well organised, but with room for improvement!
1. The menu we cooked was not well-balanced, with far too much coconut. Of course, it is a staple in Sri Lanka, but 4 of 6 dishes were coconut! When I was in Sri Lanka, there was a good range of other flavours in every meal. I don't feel I can create a good meal after this session, just some tasty dishes.
2. The recipe booklet is not well-presented, with many errors, omitting punctation for the sense, and contradiction of what we were told when cooking. More care would have made this more a useful item.
3. No "doggy bags." Why on earth not? Of course you should provide containers - otherwise all that delicious food we cook is wasted. (Too much to eat.)
4. An expensive 3 hours. Of course, all the ingredients and equipment etc were provided, but still too expensive.
Good fun. A few more recipes for other fillings/sauces would have been nice.
Great organisation of the class, the chef explained and showed the skills really clearly and most importantly the food was amazing.
If you want to learn a fun new dish involving varied skills like making bread, slow cooking meat, deep frying meat etc I sincerely advise you to try the Bao class !
And the best reward is eating your food with everyone at the end !
Really interactive and very thorough. Kind and patient staff instructing and assisting the class, enabling us to make lots of bread. Would recommend this to friends and keen to look into other classes on offer.
Taught with such enthusiasm and passion. Excellent way to learn how to mske pasta!
Loved it! Got some great tips and had fun while doing so! Great quality ingredients were provided, wine top-ups throughout the cooking and take home materials, all made for a great class!
Lovely teaching style and came away with some game changing techniques! Shame we didn’t learn how to cut the fish we ate though.
The class was really good. What would have made it better if we were told the agenda of the evening at the start so we knew what time stuff was going to happen,
Ie – I’m going to show you skills for one hour, then you are going to put them into practice, and then we are going to eat the food you prepared at about xx o clock. That was people would know what to expect from the off. Otherwise it was a really enjoyable class and a knowledgeable teacher.
I would be interested in finding out how to chop meat as well as vegetables if that is part of the next course.
The class was lots of fun and I’m looking forward to trying out some of the dishes at home.
For 5 stars it would have been nice to have tried some more adventurous dishes.
Very nice experience and friendly atmosphere!
An enjoyable few hours spent learning about the art of breadmaking! Richard was very knowledgeable about all things doughy and gave clear demos of each of the different breads before we set about mixing and kneading ourselves. Boxes were provided to transport our delicious baked goods safely home.
I bought this ad a gift for my partner, he says “They were very friendly and very hands on with the advise and really keen to share what they knew and the food was excellent.”
He came home super excited and super full after an epic meal, looking forward to all the yummy things he’s going to slice and dice for me at home now.
The glass was great, the cooking school is much nicer than other cooking schools I've been to with bunting on the ceiling and cute homey decor. We made a range of breads, learnt how to make bread at home and had a box to take away.
Great Sunday spent cooking delicious food. There were lots of chefs on hand to help and make sure we were doing the right thing. Thoroughly enjoyed it
Fun class with great tasting food. Could be improved by focusing explicitly on different knife skill techniques for different food items (i.e. vegetables, fish, meat) paired with each meal cooked rather than a general overview of cutting techniques at the beginning of the class.
Great class - picked up some tips, made a lovely brunch & met some great people. What I really liked about Avenue Cookery compared to other cooking classes I have been on is that there were plenty of chefs around to help all groups instead of one chef having to try and manage questions from everyone. Would definitely go back again!
The Course was really informative and fun. Our instructor Diana made it seem effortless and also tought us various techniques and provided us with lots of tips all in a friendly warm environment.
I definitely recommend the Course and everything Diana might offer.
Great fun!!!
