Buildings and landscapes, horizons and cityscapes; we live in a crazy beautiful world that’s only made richer by stepping back and getting some perspective. In this 3D drawing class at Token Studio in Fulham (for both beginners and more advanced students) learn the techniques of artistic perspective.
One of history’s most famous perspective artists was the great Leonardo da Vinci. In some of da Vinci’s drawings, such as Annunciation and Adoration of the Magi, we can observe linear perspective features like the horizon line, the vanishing point and the orthogonal lines. Sounds too mathematical? Don’t worry; this welcoming class in Fulham will make it all clearer.
The folks at Token Studio recommend this class is taken over five 1 hr sessions (see here), but you can come along to this ‘taster’ session first to find out if you like it.
Over the course, you’ll learn the step-by-step methods for representing a three-dimensional image on a two-dimensional plane, with a focus on architectural drawing. You’ll look at the two main concepts of modern perspective drawing: linear perspective (the organisation of shapes in space) and aerial perspective (the atmospheric effects on colour and tone). By the end, you’ll be throwing these phrases around like a pro.
You can take your drawings home with you afterwards and get some keen practising in between sessions - a therapeutic way to unwind after a manic day.
This is a great class for anyone with a keen interest in drawing, as perspective is one of the basic tools to master for art and illustration of all kinds. Those with an architecture background will find the skills and friendships they ‘build’ here particularly useful!
