About this class

This class is the perfect opportunity to get to grips with clothesmaking, by creating your own Miette skirt from scratch!

Did you know?

It is pretty much a fact that sewing is addictive. And what a great thing to be addicted to! It has been stated that 51% of sewers own at least 3 sewing machines, with only 19% owning just 1.

In this class

This class offers the perfect springboard into designing and making your own clothes. The following skills will be covered:

  • Take your own measurements
  • Read a commercial pattern
  • Adjusting clothes to fit you

Students will be working with the lovely ‘Tilly & the Buttons’ skirt pattern ‘Miette’. You will gain the necessary skill set to start sewing your own clothes and experiment with patterns that suit you.

Fabric is not included but the pattern and all other materials are provided. You may purchase fabric from the shop with a 10% discount.

Now you can

  • Create marvelous clothes for yourself and friends/ family
  • Build upon what you have learnt as you hone in your skills
  • Pass on your new knowledge to others with a similar passion

Stag and Bow was set up in 2010 by founders Pascale and Cyrus, as a celebration of sharing skills, stories, knowledge, and all things handmade. As well as running a stunning shop in Forrest Hill, Stag and Bow also provide informative, fun and inspiring craft and textile workshops.

Cyrus is a specialist woodworker and designer with great experience in a variety of design disciplines, with strong focus on the "poetic" side of materials and how people can relate to them. Similarly, Pascale is in her element when she is making, fully immersing herself in the textile world.

Through these workshops, Pascale and Cyrus are able to pass on their collected wealth of experience of the textile trade. Their meticulous choice of materials and infectious attention to detail is passed on to the students as they seek to further their own craft!
