Macarons are renowned for being tricky but fear not - this class is aimed at beginners and uses French meringue to make these delicious slices of heaven. It’s fun, sticky and the best bit is that you get to take your macarons home!
The correct pronunciation is macaron (mah-kah-ROHN) although people often mistakenly call then macaroons - an entirely different sweet treat!
This class for beginners will have you making perfect macarons by the end. Loretta brings her Michelin Star training and her love of food to guide you through what can be a tricky little desert. You will start by making French meringue before creating the delicious balance of flavours for your biscuits and piping them into perfectly uniform circles.
It’s all very hands-on, with loads of tips for first timers and you will leave with the confidence to make your own macarons at home.
We will send you home with a box of your homemade macarons to share with friends and family – making you very popular indeed! A signed copy of Loretta’s award winning book, super-cute macarons, is available to purchase in the class so that you can continue your education at home.
This super-cute class would make the perfect date. Sign yourself up for On Café’s class to master the art of macaron making.
Spaces are limited to, so book today and treat yourself to a morning with these delicious morsels.
Overpriced & slapdash for what it is. On a table between the kitchen & the cafe with music blaring. Luckily there were only 3 people altogether so we could make our macarons quite quickly. Whilst it was interesting I'm still waiting for the recipe that was promised over 2 weeks ago. Try elsewhere.

Famous for her macarons, Singapore-born Loretta Lui owns the On Café patisserie and cookery school in Clapham.
On Café is a small, family-run is an Asian style café in the heart of Clapham serving dim sum and French patisserie. Head Chef Loretta Lui started the business in 2010 with a background in Michelin starred restaurants such as Raymond Blanc’s famous Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. She has also taught classes at Christophe Novelli and Raymond Blanc’s cookery school.
Loretta believes that cooking is a science and that only though experimenting with how flavours change when they meet other ingredients and undergo temperature changes can we learn to be good chefs. Loretta’s mantra is that practise makes perfect and the best learning comes from the mistakes you make. Her classes in the heart of Clapham are a great way to introduce you to classic Chinese techniques and pastry making.
Loretta offers numerous cookery classes for aspiring chefs – from the art of macarons to balancing the delicate flavours of dim sum.
