Take a walk around the streets of London Town with Steve Hedges, a renowned and acclaimed photographer, learning how to get the most out of your camera in an urban setting. This course will give you the confidence and knowledge to flourish as a street photographer (and more general photography), and is ideal for people of all abilities who simply wish to hone in their skills.
In a modern age in which almost every person has a camera-phone, taking a photo is about as commonplace as…well, just about anything. However, things weren’t always so simple. Back in the 1820s cameras would take up to several hours to capture a film. Imagine trying to hold a smile or a pose for that long. We’ve got a lot to thank technology for.
During this class students will move away from automatic settings as they will take full control of the camera and learn all of its fundamental components.
The course will take you through many of London’s most iconic areas including the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben, St James’s Park, Buckingham Palace, The Horse Guards Parade and Trafalgar Square (to name a few). The walk will give the students an appreciation of street photography and professional guidance on how to take that perfect photo.
Subjects covered include: exposure modes, exposure compensation, controlling depth of field, white balance, image quality settings, understanding shutter speed, focus modes and composition.
The class will meet outside Westminster Tube, at the exit opposite the Houses of Parliament.
This workshop has a maximum of 5 participants - so book early to avoid disappointment!

Steve Hedges has been a professional photographer for over 25 years and has shot a huge variety of subjects from public relations, commercial photography, portraiture, weddings, landscape and nature.
Steve is fully qualified with the Master Photographer’s Association and the Royal Photographic Society and was shortlisted in the 2011 and 2014 and 2015 Outdoor photographer of the year competitions and in the British Wildlife photographer of the year competition.
For many years now, Steve has been running a variety of photography courses and workshops alongside his professional photographic assignments.
Steve says “I find it immensely rewarding helping people to reach their full potential as a photographer. One of the great things about photography is that you are constantly learning new things as technology changes and you improve your understanding of the art. I find that I still have a hunger to learn new techniques and always to improve as a photographer. I believe this keeps my approach to teaching photography fresh and up-to-date. All of my courses are conducted in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. I find that my students get on really well together sharing information, techniques and tips about camera equipment, in fact many have gone on to become good photography “buddies” which is I think a lovely bonus to attending one of our courses.”
Steve teaches in a variety of locations as well as in the classroom and he likes to get out and explore new places.
