In the age of the rampant selfie, the art of life drawing is an underrated means of capturing the human form. Come learn the basics and more in this fascinating class in Fulham.
Yes, we hear your giggles--when most people think life drawing, they blushingly picture a naked person. But in fact, the featuring of a nude model in life drawing often aims to remove all those cheeky connotations we normally apply to nakedness by examining the human body from a different perspective.
In this class, you’ll learn more than just, “here’s the thing, now draw it!” Classes are held every Monday, with different techniques taught every week. Skills covered include: making a drawing look 3D, getting proportions right, light effects, transitions, colour theory and composition. Materials also vary, so you could find yourself using pencil, charcoal or chalk depending on the lesson.
You’ll take home your drawings and the skills you’ve learnt to keep practising at home. You’ve also got a great alternative to offer your friends if their Facebook photos are falling flat.
Life drawing is the kind of class that beckons in open-minded people from all walks of life who want to learn something new. As well as artists, those with a keen interest in animation, game design and theatre will find the skills taught here very useful.
