About this class

An easy-to-use furniture paint, with no need to strip, sand or use chemicals? It must be Autentico. This class is for the beginner who already has a piece in mind, but doesn’t quite trust themselves to let loose on the real thing. Sound familiar?

Did you know?

Transylvania is famous for its painted furniture. If you’re into a more traditional vintage though, it’s probably not quite your style. The classic design is a blanket of bright red flowers painted in beautifully symmetrical patterns.

In this class

Autentico Vintage chalk based paint was especially developed using old recipes and all natural ingredients so doesn’t include any harmful additives. That makes it great for children's furniture. In this class, you’ll get to experiment on sample wood panels while you perfect the technique, before setting to work on your own furniture. During this introductory session you’ll learn about:

  • colour ranges and how to combine backgrounds
  • different techniques you need for a distressed or modern look
  • working with wax to obtain a unique finish

Now you can

  • Rescue the old dining chairs from your Mum’s house and give them a new lease on life
  • Design yourself a bedroom dressing table unlike any you’ve ever seen before
  • Win some serious Pinterest cred

There’s no need to bring anything (other than yourself) as all materials and tools are included. It’ll help if you’ve got a project in mind though.

Either way you’ll get to take home your sample board for inspiration, and The Old School Club offer a 10% discount on all Autentico paint purchases on the day.

Bring a friend along or come solo, knowing that when you next come back to The Old School Club you’ll be visiting a group of friends.

A creative club to learn skills, make unique creations and feel inspired.

The Old School Club is a welcoming creative hub, based in Battersea, South West London. The founder, Inma Goodhew, is part-time mother of two children, part-time creative visionary. Growing up in an environment where everything was handmade, personalised and familiar, her inventive upbringing lead to a passion for sharing her skills with others. Yet Inma hit a frustrating block, where, on maternity leave, she wanted to take some creative classes but there was nowhere in London aimed at parents with children. so Inma formed a sewing club and hired babysitters to look after the babies whilst the mums were learning and making. This started to grow into something much bigger, much quicker than Inma could imagine; from a network of young mothers to a devoted community, breeding creativity.

Inma found that making things for herself, her family and her home allowed her to learn, improve and practice everything she know. Having done it all her life, she now uses her broad range of skills and styles to advise her clients on everything, from colours & patterns, to fabrics and furniture styling. Her true expertise lies in teaching beginners and keen crafters how to sew, paint, style furniture, upcycle, master embroidery and nail DIY projects. Her classes are always informative, bespoke, friendly, but most importantly, great fun.

Inma appreciates that, as a mother of two, mums need their down time and it comes in no better form than getting creative and being social with other mums.   Inma is rightly proud of her bold career u-turn, transforming her profession from a senior IT role, to doing something she was truly passionate about - teaching, making and sharing with other creatives her entrepreneurial journey.
