Learn the basics of making your own picture frame and mount in this beautiful Kew Gardens setting! Discover the art of picture framing and mount design, build and transform the frame for your artwork!
Frames change because of historic events. With the advent of photography in the mid 19th-century, a growing middle class began to fashion homemade frames. And by the 1930s, as a new art movement arose, Abstract Expressionism; the new painting style dictated the type of frame that was needed, or in this case was not needed. Abstract Expressionism required no frame or a strip of frame at most.
Throughout this one day course you will be introduced to the basic process of framing from cutting a mount, glass and frame to final assembly as well as the application of a stain and lime wax finish. This course is aimed at beginners and those who desire more hands on experience to help them choose suitable framing equipment for their needs.

An A4 (297x210mm) size, or smaller, picture or photo on paper (not board) for framing – you will cut a single mount and frame it in a natural wood moulding, with a lime wax finish.
