Mindful parenting is rooted in an adaptation of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction. It follows similar practices to these 'MBSR courses' in a similar progression. This course introduces ‘mindfulness of everyday activities’ to help with various situations that come up in family settings with our children and family relationships. It is intended to help clarify and enhance how we respond in difficult circumstances. The course focuses on day-to-day parenting and family activities. Short self- compassion practices will also be weaved in throughout the 8 weeks.

This course also help parents recognise patterns arising in their relationship with their child that may originate from their own childhood, using techniques adapted from schema therapy (recognising patterns of behaviours). The course includes exercises to help parents become aware of their own personal limits, to help them set limits with their child.

Finally, the course contains exercises that help parents reconnect emotionally with their child after a difficult conflict, finding ways to hold any situation with courage and kindness.

Based in South London, Being Mindful teaches Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction in Clapham, Balham and Borough. Their courses are varied and range from 8 week courses to one-off mindfulness classes.
