The menus for these masterclasses keep changing and cover a number of elaborate dishes such as Biryani along with Indian breads, snacks and light bites, desserts etc
‘Biryani’ is a classic one-pot dish with layers of meat and rice infused with fragrant spices cooked over slow heat in a sealed pot. Biryani is known as the food of the royals and is thought to have been invented to provide balanced nutrition to the soldiers in the old days!
In this masterclass, you will cook a delightful Chicken Biryani learning how to do the perfect marinade and cook light and fluffy rice which are both key to a good Biryani. You will cook this one pot rice dish from scratch along with a number of delicious accompaniments (see menu below).
These classes are hands-on, fun and sociable. We will start the day with a welcome drink while discussing the origins of Biryani along with the ingredients and preparation method that you’ll be using. You will then roll up your sleeves and get going to prepare a delectable Chicken Biryani which we will enjoy together after the class.

Chicken Dum Biryani (Flavourful one pot dish of spiced basmati rice layered with tender chicken) Onion Spinach Bhajia (Spinach and onion fritters made with gram flour & spices) Coriander Mint Chutney (Zesty and flavourful fresh coriander mint chutney) Pineapple Mint Raita (Yogurt flavoured with pineapple and mint) Papad (Crispy snack made from ground lentils and enjoyed as an accompaniment)

Meri Rasoi brings you into its kitchen for some Indian cooking using simple and traditional techniques.
Nidhi of ‘Meri Rasoi’ will teach you to cook authentic, healthy, delicious Indian food using simple and traditional techniques that are used every day in Indian kitchens. 'Rasoi' is a traditional Indian kitchen where simple but delicious food is cooked using recipes handed down and perfected through generations.
Nidhi’s classes are fun, interactive and open to complete beginners as well as serious food enthuiasts and will give you an opportunity to learn not only how to cook delicious home cooked Indian food but also to use spices confidently.
Classes take place at Nidhi’s beautifully kept home in Raynes Park where you cook as a group for approximately 3 hours. At the end of each class you can choose to eat together or take the food away with you. All materials and recipe sheets are included along with aprons and notebooks to use on the day.
Private classes and weekend timings are available on request.
