Over the 2 week period, you will learn:
- A basic white sauce on day one
- Craft home baked breads, cakes and puddings.
- Create good and honest dishes like macaroni cheese, lasagne or a fish pie.
- Know your way around a roux and perfect your signature gravy to go with that killer roast.
- Cater on a budget.
- Expand your repertoire to include sophisticated dishes designed to delight your guests.
- Have the inside track on presentation skills that will have you looking like a Master Chef without the camera glare.
- Build on skills and confidence to earn you money through holiday jobs, be it chalet hosting, summer villas, shooting parties or simply cooking for busy families who want good food in their fridge and freezer.
Is it right for me?
This course is for students aged 17-25+ who want to arm themselves with core skills to take on the kitchen and shock and awe their friends. No prior cooking knowledge / experience is needed.
Ideal for anyone about to go to college or university, or leaving halls of residence or simply leaving home and left to cook for themselves. The course gives you hands-on experience showing you how to flip a dinner party on a budget, create a killer roast and smash a lasagne. With the basics mastered in week one you move on to more innovative, advanced recipes and your presentation will crank up a notch in week two.
Boiled, roasted, baked or steamed like everything you get on this class, there is no nonsense and plenty of detail that will leave you armed with a solid recipe book and confidence to tackle anything you put your hand to.
